The title of the series has not been announced yet, but the theme will be “the world tomorrow.”

The series — which is scheduled to premiere in mid-March — “will draw together controversial voices from across the political spectrum — iconoclasts, visionaries and power insiders — each to offer a window on the world tomorrow and their ideas on how to secure a brighter future,” WikiLeaks said.

“Are we heading towards utopia, or dystopia and how we can set our paths?” Assange said of the questions to be raised by the show. “This is an exciting opportunity to discuss the vision of my guests in a new style of show that examines their philosophies and struggles in a deeper and clearer way than has been done before.”

Presumably, plenty of spoilers will be issued by WikiLeaks prior to the show’s run.

Julian Assange Appeal

Julian Assange AppealJulian Assange Appeal, The WikiLeaks founder, Julian Assange, has been given permission to continue his legal battle to Britain’s Supreme Court to avoid extradition to Sweden over alleged sex offences.

Julian Assange entered the Royal Court of Justice on Monday morning with the knowledge that within 24 hours he could well have been on a plane to Sweden. However, as he left court he was greeted with cheers from supporters after being granted permission to apply to Britain’s Supreme Court in a bid to stay in the UK. The whistleblower faces extradition to Sweden. Now he has 14 days to submit a written request rather than a direct appeal to the Supreme Court, as he still has no automatic right to be heard in the UK’s highest court. Assange was arrested in London last year after the Swedish authorities issued a European arrest warrant accusing him of rape and molestation following encounters with two Swedish women in August 2010. After being released on bail, he lost a High Court battle last month to be extradited over sex offences, which he denies. Assange’s legal team has claimed that his life would be in danger if he’s extradited to Sweden, saying he could face rendition from there to the US, where calls have been made for his arrest on grounds of national security after thousands of leaked US embassy cables were published on WikiLeaks.

Earlier on Monday, Israel Shamir, a friend and supporter of Assange, spoke to Tim about whistleblower’s legal battle. Tim first asked Shamir what he felt was the significance of today’s decision.

“It means that e battle of Julian Assange for his freedom can go on. We were all very anxious and then there was a thought that he will be just today gerrymandered to a plane and sent to Sweden. But in a way the danger of an immediate extradition seems to have faded away.”

It’s reported widely in the British media about the potential extradition. Is it that we doubt the integrity of the Swedish legal system? Or is it the fact that Sweden is likelier to give him over to the US? I think that’s the bigger picture, isn’t it?

Assange Arrested

Assange Arrested, The founder of Wikileaks was arrested in London on a Swedish sex crime charge.

The action comes a week and a half after the release of State Department cables to new organizations and via the Internet, which will continue depending on the load Wikileaks Twitter. “Today’s actions against our editor Julian Assange have no impact on our business,” said the tweet.

Assange takes place on a “surprise sex” charge. He was not arrested for the rape; the sex in question was consensual. Apparently, the question is whether or not a condom was used and whether the woman request. The load, only part of the Swedish penal code and not the UK, punishable by a fine of 5,000 kronor, or $ 715. To summarize, Interpol issued an international arrest warrant, and Great Britain, honored for Sweden, a case which has a $ 715 fine and no jail time. Assange pleaded innocent to the charge. Wikileaks has invented a new type of journalism: science journalism. We work with other media to bring people the news, but also to prove that is true. Science journalism allows you to read a news story, then click online to see the original document, it is based. In this way you can judge for yourself: Is this story true? Did the journalist to report accurately?

Democratic societies need a solid support and Wikileaks is part of the medium. The media contributes to maintaining an honest government. Wikileaks has revealed some harsh truths about the war in Iraq and Afghanistan, and broken stories on corporate corruption.

People have said I am anti-war for the record, I’m not. Sometimes nations need to go to war, and there are just wars. But nothing is more unfair for the government to lie to his people about these wars, and then ask these same people to put their lives and their taxes on line for these lies. If a war is justified, telling the truth and people will decide to support it.

If you’ve read one of the Afghans or the war in Iraq newspapers, one of the cables U.S. Embassy or one of the stories about what Wikileaks said, realize how important it is for all media to be able to to report these things freely.

Assange says many media Wikileaks published documents, and although his organization had been attacks by the governments of the world, to stop it. He accused the government of “trying to shoot the messenger because he does not want the truth revealed.”

In just today the release Wikileaks, as if to prove the point Assange speaks minimize U.S. officials with the Taliban, after publicly hyping the possibility of reconciliation that the only way to end the war. The cables also show that Hamid Karzai is disinterested and the U.S., to give the Taliban a role in the Afghan government, which means that whatever negotiations took place are essentially meaningless. It simply means that the war is doomed to spend literally forever, with each side unable to achieve transfer, but seeks anyway.

Wikileaks Website, The web site is believed to be complaining about to release hundreds of thousands of U.S. military records in the Iraq war.

NATO chief, Anders Fogh Rasmussen said the leak could have “very negative security implications.”

A spokesman for U.S. defense said the documents in question “significant activities”, reported by units.

The Pentagon has formed a team of over 100 analysts to prepare for the release of the documents, which were expected later on Friday.
“Snapshots”

A spokesman for the U.S. Department of Defense said that the “theft” of documents should be returned to avoid potentially damaging information being released.

“By revealing such sensitive information, Wikileaks continues to put at risk the lives of our troops, coalition partners and Iraqis and Afghans working with us,” said spokesman Geoff Morrell.

He said the documents were “essentially snapshots of events, both tragic and the mundane, and not tell the whole story.

“That said, the period covered by these reports has been well reported in the news, books and movies and the publication of these reports from the field does not bring a new understanding of Iraq’s past.”

He added: “However, does not expose the secret information that could make our troops more vulnerable to future attacks.”

Wikileaks web site is currently down for “scheduled maintenance”, but promised in his Twitter an “important announcement in Europe” on Saturday morning.

Speaking earlier on Friday, the NATO Secretary General, Anders Fogh Rasmussen, said the “flight can put soldiers and civilians in danger.”

Wikileaks has angered the U.S. government and military to launch in July of more than 70,000 secret documents on the war in Afghanistan.

Military officials warned at the time of the leak could lead to the deaths of U.S. soldiers and Afghan civilians because some of the documents containing the names of locals who had helped the coalition forces.

But the U.S. Defense Secretary Robert Gates said in a letter to the head of the Armed Services Committee Senate that the leak had not revealed any “sensitive intelligence sources or methods.”

There have been fears such leaks can damage U.S. intelligence sharing with other nations as well as intelligence sharing among U.S. agencies.

The investigation into the leak of Afghanistan has focused on Bradley Manning, a U.S. Army intelligence analyst who is in custody and has been responsible for providing Wikileaks classifieds with a video of a U.S. helicopter attack in Iraq in 2007 in which a dozen people were killed.
