Gibson: Tribute To Rock ‘N’ Roll Dads, Earlier this week, one of the most famous rock ‘n’ roll fathers Ray Burton, father of the late Metallica bassist Cliff Burton, sat down with Mark Agnesi, Gibson’s Director of Brand Experience to reminisce about the formative years of the rock icon.

Burton’s interest in music began at a young age when his father introduced him to classical music, guitar and bass. Burton had a strong interest in rock, classical and eventually heavy metal. Burton began playing the bass at age 13, following the death of his older brother, Scott and practiced up to six hours per day (even after he joined Metallica). Along with classical and jazz, Burton’s other early influences varied from southern rock, country and the blues. Burton often cited Geddy Lee, Geezer Butler, Stanley Clarke, Lemmy Kilmister, Ed King and Phil Lynott as key influences on his style of bass playing.

“Cliff knew what he wanted to do and went out and did it,” says Ray Burton. “How could you not support a child who has that initiative already in their system and wanting to learn an occupation like that? The way he pursued music and the enthusiasm he showed toward the playing, we thought, ‘well, let’s see what happens.’ Then when he came and said, ‘Can you support me for five years?’ not long after that, it was absolute history.”

 In Children:

              Its also considered unsafe for children.Melatonin is it self a hormone so it may effect on other hormones those are associated with development during adolescence.

In Diabetic Patients:

              Melatonin is not good for diabetic patients because it may cause increase in blood sugar level, so blood-sugar level monitoring is required if a diabetic patient is using melatonin.

Seizure disorders:

               In seizer disorders patients, melatonin use may increase the risk of seizures.

Depression:

               In people with depression, it may worsed this problem in these patients.

Seizur disorders:

               The risk of seizure is increased by its use so it is not recommended for seizure patients.

Melatonin Interaction with other Medications:

                   Melatonin is reported to generally interact with certain group of medicines such as sedative medicines or CNS depressents, they combinely cause too much sleepiness thats not good for a person. Some of these sedatives are Clonazepam, Phenobarbital, Zolpidem, Iorazepam etc.

                   Beside that its combination is avoided with:

                         Contraceptive drugs

                         Caffeine

                          Fluvoxamine

                          Anti-diabetic medicines

                          Immunosuppressants and

                          Anto-coagulants

Insomnia or sleepless ness is not a disease, Its a sleep disorder. In simple words “it’s a difficulty in sleep”. Almost every adult experiences this sleep disorder or sleeplessness condition atleast once in his life. According to a survey, Insomnia has affected routine of 30-50% people while 10% people are affected by Chronic insomnia.

      Insomnia is classified on the basis of duration of this problem.

Snoring is a sleeping disorder in which a sound is produced during sleep, due to thevibration that cause particles in the air to form sound waves. During sleep, the turbulent airflow causes vibration of tissue of throat and nose that gives rise to snoring.

 This sound may be moderate and loud, that’s very uncomfortable for the people lives around the person who has snoring problem.

        Studies show that 30% of women and 45% of men snore generally on regular basis. This snoring problem may be a sideeffect of some medicines and also due to consumption of alcohol.

       Causes of Snoring:

                When we sleep, usually the area at the back of throat, becomes narrow in some people, so the air that passes through this narrow area, causes the vibration of tissues surrounding the opening. This narrowing may be occur in nose, mouth or throat in different people.

Causes of Narrowing Of Airways That Leads To Snoring Problem:

 Some of the causes associated with narrowing of airways include:

  • The size of tonsils: it can remain enlarged (hypertrophied) and can narrow the airway vibrate, and cause snoring.

Insomnia is referred to as “Repeated difficulty in with the initiation, maintenance and duration of sleep” or “Lack of sleep”. Insomnia is very common especially in adults. Every individual suffers from this problem at least once in his life time. If this problem persists for long time so it may lead to chronic insomnia.

Causes of Insomnia And Its Classifications:

          There is a list of causes that may be a leading factor on insomnia. It includes:

  • Stressful job or life
  • Uncomfortable room temperature (hot or cold)
  • Presence of any illness
  • With drawl of sedatives,stimulant medication or alcohol
  • Changes in working shift
  • Snoring

 

Classification Of Insomnia:

                Insomnia is classified on the basis of its duration of occurance. It includes:

  •   Transient Insomnia:

              In this treatment, the use of medicines is avoided. Some behavioral therapies are used that include sleep hygiene, stimulus control, relaxation therapy and sleep restriction. In these therapies, the patient is advised to do regular exercises, set a proper time to sleep and avoid caffeine containing drinks while going to bed.

                Almost half of the population is suffering from this Insomnia condition.Their leading causes are noise pollution, stressful life and a over sleep habit. By correcting our eating and sleeping habits we can easily over come this problem.
