Kwame Kilpatrick Latest News:former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick was sentenced to five years in prison today by a Circuit Court of Wayne County for violating terms of his probation. You may remember that Kilpatrick has pleaded guilty in 2008 of two counts of obstruction of justice, accepting an agreement that will serve four months imprisonment, five years probation, his resignation as mayor, to give up their state pension and his law license and pay $ 1 million in restitution to the city of Detroit.

It is this last point that caught Kwame. In February he was late to make a payment of restitution provided in April and a judge found him in violation of his probation. Security is being raised at airports in both Canada and the United States following a Christmas Day attempt to blow up a flight landing in Detroit.

Air Canada and WestJet are advising passengers on flights heading to the US to expect delays due to added security screening. They say carry-on baggage will be limited to one item.

West Jet says that till at least Wednesday, all passengers must submit to a pat down search and their Carry on Luggage will be searched by hand.

The airliners recommend passengers show up at least 3 hours before their flight.
