chris-henry-240Nfl Chris Henry:Bengals receiver Chris Henry died on Thursday after falling from a moving truck in Charlotte, N.C., on Wednesday, according to police. He was 26.

The football player had apparently been involved in an argument with his fiancée at a home when she drove away in a pickup truck. Henry jumped onto the bed of the truck, but fell out of the vehicle about a half-mile away.

A police spokesperson said homicide detectives were assigned to the case, but that no charges have been filed.

A seemingly perpetually troubled player, the hot-tempered Henry was arrested at various times for marijuana possession, gun possession and assault, earning him the epithet of “one-man crime wave” from a judge – and his ouster from the Cincinnati Bengals in 2008.

But after the Bengals’ owner gave Henry a second chance, the athlete seemed to have straightened out, staying out of trouble and focusing his off time on his fiancée and the three children they were raising.

Chris Henry Not Dead – Chris Henry Car Accident UPDATE

December 17, 2009 by · Comments Off on Chris Henry Not Dead – Chris Henry Car Accident UPDATE

Chris Henry Not Dead – Chris Henry Car Accident UPDATE:Hours after false Chris Henry dead reports started, Chris Henry is still wrongly being reported as dead. Chris Henry’s car accident has not resulted in Henry’s death, the last update given by his agent shortly before midnight Wednesday.

Chris Henry credited fiancee Loleini Tonga just weeks ago for turning his life around, telling the Cincinnati Enquirer in October that Tonga has “been a big help. She’s been right here with me and going through things and helping out on my side. We have the kids, and she has my back with everything I’ve needed.”

Henry had problems in college. At West Virginia he “repeatedly got in trouble” reports ESPN. He would be drafted by the Bengals third round, help leading them to the 2005 playoffs. But at the same time, his first season in the league included being arrested for substance possession, then on weapons charges 30 days later, and two times thereafter additionally. In 2007, he was arrested again. That fifth arrest resulted in him being released. Coach Marvin Lewis convinced the team to bring him back for a 2 year contract starting in 2008.

In 2009, Chris Henry had 12 receptions and 2 TDs produing 236 yards. For his 5 years in the league, he produced 21 TDs, 119 receptions, over 1826 yards. His last game was against the Ravens in which he delivered on 1 reception and 20 yards. In week 7 against the Bears, he had 1 TD with 2 receptions and 26 yards.

The last update officially was from his agent Andy Simms of PlayersRep Sports around midnight last night:

“We ask everyone to pray for Chris.

“We also ask that you respect the privacy of Chris’ family. Chris is indeed battling for his life tonight, and our thoughts and prayers (are) with him during this extremely difficult time.”

The fake death report stemmed from a false Twitter account. Gregg Rosenthal of NBC reports that “a fake Twitter account led to multiple outlets from newspapers to major sports and news blogs to repeat information that Henry passed away.”

Before the start of the 2009 season, Henry in training camp told AP that he was blessed.

“I don’t live the way I did in the past,” Henry said, in an interview with The Associated Press during training camp. “I kind of plan my days out and take it one day at a time and stay away from the wrong people. I’m not partying anymore. I’m just focused on football right now and my family. I don’t associate with the same people. I’ve completely changed everything.”

Nelson Mandela Dead

Nelson Mandela Dead:Nelson Mandela. The rumors this time are really undeveloped. No news is available regarding the manner of his death. The only fact that can be gathered on this matter is that the rumor was started by someone on Twitter, probably by the very same person or persons who had brainstormed the others. This is indeed quite surprising, considering that generally, celebrities die elaborate, graphic and occasionally quite innovative deathson the internet. It is also being speculated that the Nelson Mandela dead rumors might have been started by the marketing team of the film “Invictus”, that is based on the life and political struggle of the activist.

Both the explanations seem quite plausible. On the one hand, Twitter is known to be the Golgotha of celebrities, with one or the other reported to be killed dutifully almost every week. On the other hand, spreading the death rumors of celebrities in any way connected to a film has always been a very popular and successful promotional gimmick. Whatever be the case, it seems to have been spurned by the people, surprisingly enough. There are lots of tweets rejecting the Nelson Mandela dead rumor outright.

loleini-tonga-pic_448x329Loleini Tonga:Chris Henry, a receiver with the NFL’s Cincinnati Bengals, was seriously injured after falling out of the back of a pickup truck during a domestic dispute.

Following the incident with his fiancee, Loleini Tonga, Henry was found on a Charlotte road “apparently suffering life-threatening injuries” police say.

Henry was transported to Carolinas Medical Center, the local trauma unit, but spokesman Scott White said he was not listed in hospital records.

Police officers say Henry jumped into the bed of the pickup truck as his unidentified fiance was driving away from an area home. Officials said:

“A domestic situation continued between the operator and Mr. Henry. At some point while driving, Henry came out of the back of the vehicle.”
Henry broke his left forearm in a win against the Baltimore Ravens on November 8, had surgery and was placed on season-ending injured reserve.

Charlotte is home to his Loleini Tonga’s parents.

“We are aware he was in an accident and that his injuries are very serious,” spokesman Jack Brennan said of the Henry situation. “We are obviously staying in touch with the situation and are ready to offer whatever assistance we can.”

Henry is in the last year of his contract with the Bengals, who let him go after his fifth arrest following the 2007 season, but later brought him back.
