Tommie Harris Dies

Tommie Harris Dies, Ashley Harris, the wife of Chargers defensive lineman and former OU Sooner Tommie Harris, died Sunday night at the age of 29.

Harris reportedly died of either a stroke, heart attack or brain aneurism after being hospitalized Friday night in Oklahoma.

The Chicago Sun-Times first reported Harris’ condition on Sunday afternoon after talking to a family friend about the situation.

Yahoo sports reported Monday afternoon that Ashley was found unresponsive on Friday.

Tommie and Ashley were married in January according to the report and the couple has two children, one of which was born four months ago.

Ashley gave birth to their second child four months ago.

Tommie Harris Wife, Ashley Harris, wife of former Chicago Bears Pro Bowl defensive tackle Tommie Harris, has died.

Harris’ wife died Sunday at age 29 at a hospital in Oklahoma after she became ill, according to sources close to the former Bears star. The cause of death is not yet known.

Tommie Harris last played for the Bears in 2010 and spent most of the 2011 season with the San Diego Chargers, where he rejuvenated his career under former defensive line coach Don Johnson, who also coached Harris with the Bears. Harris is an unrestricted free agent and indications were that the Chargers would look to bring him back.

Ashley Harris had two children with her husband.

“I strongly believe in God but I would be lying to u if I said understood why he allows some things to happen,” former Bears teammate Chris Harris wrote on his Twitter account. “RIP Ashley Firmin Harris. You will be missed.”
