Prius Brake Problem | UssPost.com:KABUL (AP) — Two U.S. service members have been killed in a bomb strike in southern Afghanistan. NATO forces say the attack happened Tuesday, but haven’t released any more details. An already volatile southern Afghanistan has seen increasing violence over the past 12 months with an increase in NATO forces.

WASHINGTON (AP) — A federal law enforcement official says the man accused of trying to carry out the failed Christmas Day plane attack has been cooperating with investigators since last week. The official says Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab (OO’-mahr fah-ROOK’ ahb-DOOL’-moo-TAH’-lahb) has been providing useful intelligence that FBI agents working with the intelligence community have been following up on.

TOKYO (AP) — The Japanese government has ordered Toyota to investigate complaints about brake problems with the automaker’s popular Prius (PREE’-uhs) hybrid. The government says there’ve been 14 brake complaints in Japan. That’s in addition to about 100 complaints U.S. highway safety officials have received about the Prius.

CHICAGO (AP) — The candidates to battle over President Barack Obama’s old Senate seat have been chosen. In a Tuesday primary in Illinois, Democrats picked Alexi Giannoulias (jeh-NOO’-lee-ehs). Republican voters picked Mark Kirk, a five-term congressman. Republicans have targeted the Senate seat since then-Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich (bluh-GOY’-uh-vitch) was arrested for trying to sell it.

NEW YORK (AP) — The New York Times reports American International Group Inc. is about to pay about $100 million in new bonuses to employees of its financial products division – the unit that helped sink AIG, leading to a government bailout. The Washington Post says AIG is still due to pay out tens of millions of dollars more in March, mostly to former employees who did not agree to concessions.
