Will And Kate's New Puppy Breed RevealedWill And Kate’s New Puppy Breed Revealed, It’s a boy! Kate and Will walk with their new pup on Newborough Beach, January 12th.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are the proud parents of a months-old pooch, and rumors they adopted a chocolate Labrador retriever are false, the palace confirmed to TODAY.com: It’s a cocker spaniel.

Though they won’t release the name (or discuss why the couple chose a cocker, though the U.K.’s Express reports the breed is a Middleton family favorite), the royals’ spokeswoman said the male pup came from a litter through a “family connection.”

Expect increased attention on the cocker spaniel, as Kate and Will are likely to take more outings with their new furry friend. The pooch isn’t the only four-legged addition to the royal family: In August, Prince Charles and his wife Camilla adopted a Jack Russell Terrier named Beth. And Queen Elizabeth is a notorious fan of Corgis.

William Kate Puppy, Prince William and Duchess Kate Middleton have welcomed a new addition to their family but it wasn’t an heir to the throne that royal watchers are hoping for, it was a puppy.
The royal couple have adopted a black male cocker spaniel puppy that is reported to be just a few months old.
The Telegraph reported the new arrival is expected to be a distraction for Kate during William’s six-week tour of duty in the Falkland Islands, where he will continue to serve as a search-and-rescue helicopter pilot.
US Weekly reports the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were initially concerned they weren’t ready for pet ownership, but after spending a short time with the puppy he was welcomed as “part of the royal fold.”
“The puppy is theirs,” said a Palace aide. “He belongs to a litter of cocker spaniels from one of Carole Middleton’s friends near home. William and Catherine fell in love with the pup instantly and it wasn’t long before they decided to keep him.”
