Nissan Recall

February 24, 2012 by · Comments Off on Nissan Recall

Nissan Recall, Nissan has recalled almost a quarter of a million cars worldwide to deal with a loose sensor that could cause fuel leaks in the worst cases.

According to Nissan SA, the problem is that the cars’ fuel-pressure sensors weren’t tightened sufficiently on to the fuel rail, with the result that they can, over time, work loose due to heat and vibration, to the point where petrol leaks out while the engine is running.

It would seem that Nissan has caught it in time; so far there have been no accidents or engine fires reported due to this problem.

Seven models – a total of 249 522 cars – are affected worldwide, nearly 100 000 of them in Japan, including the Juke crossover, the Japanese-market Serena, the Patrol, Infiniti M and Infiniti QX, the Chinese-made Tiida, and the Micra.

Nissan SA, however, says the Juke – launched locally in October 2011 with an 86kW naturally aspirated 1.6-litre petrol engine and a 140kW, 1.6-litre turbo four – is the only model in its South African line-up affected by the recall.

At the same time, there’s an ongoing recall on turboJukes built during 2010 and 2011. There have been 83 incidents reported worldwide – although none yet in South Africa – where the weld holding the turbocharger boost-sensor bracket on to the air-intake tube breaks off.

Nissan RecallNissan Recall | USsPost.com:The automobile recalls have become too frequent in United States. Toyota is at the top of the list with around eight million vehicles on the recall list. General Motors has followed the suit by recalling 3-5 years old Pontiac G5 and Chevrolet Cobalt cars. General motors made the decision after more than thousand complaints including fourteen accidents and one injury. Now Nissan motors has issued a recall after the reported problems with petrol gauges and brakes. Nissan recall involves more 500,000 vehicles. Some of the models on recall are 5 years old. Nissan recall includes Infiniti QX56 sports car, Armada, Quest minivans and Titan Pickup trucks.

Some of the automobiles have been recalled to fix the petrol gauges that don’t indicate the empty fuels and drivers have to face difficulties assuming that the vehicle has ample fuel. The other main problem involves the malfunction of brake pedals. Although no accidents have been reported due to brake problems the company has preferred to avoid any embarrassments like Toyota.

The cars on Nissan recall are mostly used in United Stated while some complaints have been launched in Russia, Middle East, Latin America, Japan and East Asia.

The United States house of representatives is currently investigating the Toyota recalls and the company might face financial penalties. Some US politicians are already demanding a ban on Japanese vehicles. The politicization of automobile recalls may have induced the Nissan recalls. Nissan Motors is an old motor company that has worked in collaboration with Ford and Renault motors.
