Nicki Minaj Starships, Nicki Minaj performed ‘Starships’ on the elimination episode of ‘American Idol‘ tonight (March 29), arriving in a pink spacecraft, of course. Surrounded by a troupe of dancers, the pink lover wore a shredded, bedazzled-looking dress with an asymmetrical hem and a blonde wig.

She was colorful as usual. But we were terrified she would have a wardrobe malfunction since her dress was incredibly low cut and her girls were bouncing around and quite visible during her high octane performance. ‘Starships’ is such a fun song, and this performance had us bobbing on the couch.

However, when the queen of the Barbs threw her hands above her head and started grooving, we braced for impact, since it seemed inevitable that one of the twins would manifest unexpectedly. But as far as we could tell, the first lady of hip-hop didn’t suffer form a nip slip (though she even seemed to know she came close!). Whew! There was no repeat of her ‘Good Morning America’ performance last summer.

Nicki Minaj Starships, Okay, so at this point, it’s safe to say that a lot of you out there were left feeling confused after VIBE’s latest cover girl Nicki Minaj performed at the 2012 Grammy Awards on Sunday night.

Her performance, which has drawn the ire of the Catholic Church this week, was admittedly a little bit out there and a huge creative risk for her. For better or worse, it also completely overshadowed her new song, “Roman’s Holiday,” and failed to get people talking about it.

All people wanted to talk about Monday morning was the show that Nicki put on-and what it meant about where she stands as an artist.

That being said, you might think that Nicki is in trouble right now. But, in less than a day, she managed to right the ship by releasing another new single called “Starships” yesterday. And it’s exactly what she needed right now. Produced by Red One, the pop-friendly song is destined to land at or near the top of the Billboard charts in the coming weeks. And it should get a lot of people out there excited for her new album, too.
