New Year Greetings, Prime Minister Vladimir Putin has sent New Year’s greetings to all Russians, though with some sarcasm toward those protesting his 12 years in power and his plans to return to the presidency for at least six more years.

Putin on Saturday wished well-being and prosperity “to all our citizens regardless of their political persuasion, including those who sympathize with leftist forces and those situated on the right, below, above, however you like.” In Russian, the sexual innuendo was clear.

Putin often uses crude language, especially when speaking derisively of his critics. His tough talk and the street slang that peppers his speeches have helped build his image as a man of the people.

His sarcasm toward the protesters backfired recently when he said the white ribbons they wear as an emblem looked like condoms. The protesters took their revenge at the next mass demonstration, where they held up a poster of Putin with his head wrapped in a scarf-like condom and another showing Putin and a condom with the words: “Attention! Not for re-use.”

Putin, who was first elected president in 2000 and remained in charge after moving into the prime minister’s seat in 2008, intends to reclaim the presidency in a March election.

Many Russians, especially young professionals in Moscow and other cities, have grown weary of Putin, who has squeezed out all political competition in centralizing his control and has allowed corruption to flourish.

Happy Christmas Greetings

Happy Christmas Greetings, White House hopefuls are taking a Christmas break from campaigning, but many left holiday greetings. Here’s a round-up: Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann, Appearing in a web video with some of her children, Bachmann encourages viewers to remember the “reason for the season.” In an accompanying message, Bachmann writes: “At a time when Christ is all too often lost in Christmas, it’s more important than ever to draw near to our family and friends, praising and thanking God for the ultimate Christmas gift: His Son.”

Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, Romney and his wife Ann taped a video greeting in New Hampshire. Romney made special mention of Americans serving overseas: “I’d like to particularly thank the men and women who are serving our nation overseas. We are thinking of you, we care for you, and we hope to have you home soon.”

Texas Gov. Rick Perry, Perry appears in a photo on his website with his family, with the greeting: “From our home to yours, Merry Christmas & Happy New Year! Rick, Anita, Sydney, Meredith, and Griffin Perry.”

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, Gingrich taped a television ad, running in Iowa, with his wife Callista. The two sit together and wish viewers Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Callista says, “Is there anything more inspiring than towns and neighborhoods brightly lit for the holidays?”

Texas Rep. Ron Paul, The candidate’s son, Sen. Rand Paul, taped a television ad promoting his father’s presidential campaign and wishing viewers a Merry Christmas.

Former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum, The staunch social conservative sent a message to supporters urging reflection on the season, but also sending specific greetings to Jewish backers.

“As we settle in to the upcoming weekend, Karen and I want to wish you a very Merry Christmas. May you and your family take some time to remember the real meaning of the Christmas season and reflect on the miracle of the birth of Jesus Christ.”

New Years Eve 2011

New Years Eve 2011, (UKPA) – Millions will see in 2011 during celebrations of New Year’s Eve in London and across the country, but clouds, fog and mist are expected to absorb the annual fireworks.

As warmer temperatures tempt the crowds in the streets, most regions of the United Kingdom should have a blanket of clouds with drizzle, although the evening is expected to stay dry.

And with the mercury reaching 4C (39.2F) after weeks of heavy snow and subzero temperatures, organizers expect hundreds of thousands of people to join New Year festivities in London.

Tony Conlan, forecaster for MeteoGroup, the weather division of the Press Association, said: “It will remain cloudy and misty drizzle on most unequal country, but it will be largely dry.

“Temperatures will not be too bad, usually 2C to 4C (35.6F to 39.2F) above freezing into midnight.”

Final preparations for the show in the capital are under way with a British company pyrotechnics used for the first time in the fireworks.

Cambridgeshire Kimbolton Fireworks Company will be behind the show at the London Eye, which will also be music for the first time with BBC Radio 1 DJ Nihal providing the soundtrack.

London Mayor Boris Johnson said the “dazzling” display would include the “dynamism, color and energy” of the city in front of 250,000 people expected along the Thames.

The celebrations continue with a parade on January 1st of the 25th year through New London. Cloudy and hazy is expected that half a million people are expected to pack the streets of Westminster to the free event.

More than 8,500 musicians, cheerleaders and performers, including those of the 20 London boroughs will take part in the parade with a 2.2 mile special message from the queen to start reading the proceedings.

New Years Eve 2011

New Years Eve 2011, (AP) – Tito Jackson is 57-years solo.The musician and original member of the Jackson 5 said it will unveil some of its new equipment during the performance of a New Year in Atlanta.

It also plans to perform some classics Jackson 5 to 22; the city celebrates annual Peach Drop on Friday.

Album of Michael Jackson solo album, “So Far, So Good” will be released in early 2011. He said he had planned to release the album earlier, but after the death of his brother Michael in 2009, “it took a minute to get my head back in the right direction.”

The guitarist said that as a Jackson, her first solo album is long overdue: “The only people who have not done so are my mother and father and family dog.”

He describes his music as “pop-ish and R & B-ish.”

“It’s a bit of everything,” he said.

Jackson is excited about his album, but has “mixed feelings” about the posthumous release of his brother earlier this month, “Michael,” which has sold more than 3 million copies in its first week.

“The songs I’m involved Michael, I love them very much,” he said. “I’ll leave it at that.”
