Lea Michele Birthplace, Lea Michele Sarfati (born August 29, 1986), known professionally as Lea Michele, is an American actress and singer. Michele began working professionally as a child actress on Broadway in productions such as Ragtime and Les Misérables.

She originated the role of Wendla in the musical Spring Awakening and currently plays Rachel Berry in the Fox television series Glee and made her film debut in New Year’s Eve starring alongside Ashton Kutcher. Michele performs in the soprano range.

Michele was born in the Bronx, New York City. She is the only daughter of Edith, a nurse, and Marc Sarfati, a delicatessen owner. Her mother is Italian American and Roman Catholic, while her father is a Spanish-Sephardic Jew. Michele was raised around both of her parents’ religions. She grew up in Tenafly, New Jersey.

She attended Rockland Country Day School for elementary school in New York and then Tenafly High School. Michele was home schooled one year while working in Toronto, Ontario on Ragtime. She attended Stagedoor Manor in the Catskills, a center for performing arts training.

She was then later accepted to the Tisch School of the Arts at New York University, but opted instead to continue working professionally on the stage.

Us Weekly said the two enjoyed a romantic weekend at a hotel and at the Grouse Mountain ski resort, and were spotted having a dinner of sushi and sake.

Michele’s spokeswoman and Monteith’s manager did not respond to Newsday’s requests for comment.

Monteith dated singer Taylor Swift for a short while in 2010, according to Us. In September, Michele reportedly broke up with her actor boyfriend Theo Stockman, 27, a cast member of the 2009 Broadway revival of “Hair.”

An eyewitness said: ”They came in Saturday (25.02.12) night for dinner. Cory is well known here because he comes in all the time. They sat at a table at the front of the restaurant in the corner. They wore hats and both ordered Ichi rolls.”

The pair – who were also seen having a romantic meal in Los Angeles on Valentine’s Day (14.02.12) – managed to keep a low profile before leaving a generous tip.

The source told Life & Style magazine: ”A woman recognized the pair and though they politely said that they were trying to lay low, they were still very nice to her. No one else bothered them.”

Lea, 25, split from Broadway star Theo Stockman after 17 months of dating in September 2011, and admitted last year that if she was going to get romantically involved with any other cast members then it would be Cory.
