Kanye West Birthplace: Atlanta, Kanye Omari West ( born June 8, 1977) is an American rapper, singer, and record producer. West first rose to fame as a producer for Roc-A-Fella Records, where he eventually achieved recognition for his work on Jay-Z’s album The Blueprint, as well as hit singles for musical artists including Alicia Keys, Ludacris, and Janet Jackson.

His style of production originally used pitched-up vocal samples from soul songs incorporated with his own drums and instruments. However, subsequent productions saw him broadening his musical palette and expressing influences encompassing ’70s R&B, baroque pop, trip hop, arena rock, folk, alternative, electronica, synthpop, and classical music.

Kanye West was born in Atlanta, Georgia, where he lived with his parents. When he was three years old, his parents divorced, and he and his mother moved to Chicago, Illinois. His father was Ray West, a former Black Panther who was one of the first black photojournalists at The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, and is now a Christian counselor.

West’s mother, Dr. Donda West, was a Professor of English at Clark Atlanta University, and the Chair of the English Department at Chicago State University before retiring to serve as West’s manager. He was raised in a middle-class background, attending Polaris High School in suburban Oak Lawn, Illinois after living in Chicago. When asked about his grades in high school, West replied, “I got A’s and B’s. And I’m not even frontin'”.

Kanye West On Today

Kanye West On TodayKanye West On Today, NBCThe Today show interview that Kanye West called “VERY BRUTAL” on Twitter yesterday aired in part today, letting the world see the exchange that made West tweet, “I feel very alone very used very tortured very forced very misunderstood very hollow very very misused.”

After introducing the segment this morning, Today host Matt Lauer played West’s remarks about accusing George W. Bush of racism after Hurricane Katrina in 2005. “As far as it being the worst moment of his presidency, you know, I can’t really speak to that,” the rapper said. “But his take, his explanation, I completely agree with and I empathize with totally.”

The trouble in their interview began a moment later, when the Today show cued footage of Lauer’s recent interview with Bush. “I didn’t need you guys to show me the tape in order to prompt my emotions or whatever,” West said in an annoyed tone. “I don’t need all the jazz…Can we be quiet for a second?”

Pressed by Lauer to further explain his thoughts on the Bush incident, West went back on message. “I want to give it the exact perfect wording, because everything I say gets taken and drawn into headlines,” he noted. “I’m here to man up to different mistakes that I made, and speak to the moment when I pegged George Bush as a racist. I came here to say that I made mistakes and I’ve grown as a person.”

But when Today cued another clip of West interrupting Taylor Swift at the 2009 VMAs, he complained again. “Yo, how am I supposed to talk if you’re going to run the thing in the middle while I’m talking?…Please don’t let that happen again. It’s ridiculous.”

In this morning’s segment, Lauer defended the practice of showing old footage during interviews as standard. Watch the interview after the jump and let us know what you think: Was West right to be bothered by Lauer’s interviewing technique?

Kanye West Let S Have A Toast

Kanye West Let S Have A Toast, Surprisingly, there was no face to face interaction between Taylor Swift and Kanye West at the Video Music Awards 2010. Both artists, however the independent impact made in the awards program.

Halfway through the show, Swift performed a passionate ballad, worrying that said “you’re still innocent.” Based on the lyrics, including a reference to someone who is still growing at age 32, the presumption is that the song was a message from the acquittal of Kanye West. During last year’s awards show, Kanye West stormed the stage during his acceptance speech for Best Female Video to declare that Beyonce was the rightful winner for her “Single Ladies.”

Other references in the song suggests Swift could at the same time talking about the preservation of his own innocence after an encounter that certainly shook his naivete.

West, meanwhile, closed the show with “Runaway”, a song that ironically encouraged a toast to the douchebags “,” asshole “and” Jerkoffs. “The goal was not as flashy as Swift said (and he negotiated Swift minimized, set for a visually stunning staging), but the content could be very strong. West Lyrics seemed to suggest an idea of his (and society, as evidenced in a debate about the habits of Angelina connection during “Sunday Jersey Shore” episode) unwavering ability to find a way to masterfully perform a negative, “douchebag” tendencies.
