Hiccup Girl Arrested, An uncontrollable case of hiccups brought a strange kind of fame to Jennifer Mee, who was 15 when he appeared on morning television shows trying to find a cure for his mysterious ailment.

Five weeks later they stopped and the media attention largely disappeared – until this week, when Mee, now 19, was charged with first-degree murder after police said he met a man 22 years age and drew him to an empty house where two of his friends robbed and shot him.

Mee is difficult to say whether he sought the spotlight, or if he was trying to make the hiccups stop.

Now she is in jail.

“I’ve said for some time, the case of the hiccups was not a case of hiccups, it was a curse of the hiccups,” said Mee’s mother, Rachel Robidoux, 93.3 WFLZ “MJ Morning Show” on Tampa on Monday.

It all started in January 2007 in science class the first time in Northeast High School in St. Petersburg. It was then that Mee has the hiccups and spent five hours in the nurse’s office.

He did not stop the next day or next week. She hiccuping up to 50 times per minute. in two weeks, his mother called the St. Petersburg Times for help, suggestions, anything.

A story ran in the paper and the national media focused on the little chubby, a little shy teenager.

It was NBC’s “Today Show”, where he received a hug from a fellow guest, country music star Keith Urban. She flew to New York to be on the program and another program in the morning he visited his room so many times – 57 to be exact – who moved hotels. She appeared on “Inside Edition.”

Nobody could explain why both Mee hiccup. She was seen by doctors, chiropractors and acupuncturists. The tests were performed. Cures were tried. Nothing was found.

She stopped going to school and could only eat soft foods. She has a sleep medicine.

On 28 February, 37 days after the hiccups started, they stopped. A story that marks the milestone in a local newspaper ran, and Mee was happy to return to school.

But the crisis in his life had just begun.

She was reunited with his father, who had not seen since she was 2 years. She ran away from home. His family is suing a hiccup cure company for allegedly using his image for profit without permission.

“Suddenly, people knew his name and that she would speak with them in various chat sites,” her mother said Monday. “She is very naive, and I was afraid he was getting into something she really did not know what he was doing.”

Along with his arrest report, police in St. Petersburg includes a summary of all the times I’ve had contact with Mee. In 2009, officers were called three times because she and her boyfriend were fighting. This year he escaped again, and police were called in several fights.

Then, St. Petersburg police Chief Chuck Harmon said Shannon Mee Griffin met online and was attracted to an empty house across the street from his apartment building, where two of his friends shot him four times in the three later, the police said was a botched robbery.

Less than 50 and was stolen from Griffin, who had worked in a Wal-Mart at least one year and was supposed to be on vacation this week.

Robidoux said: “She is an adorable sweet girl who would not hurt a fly When things went wrong I do not know ..”

On his MySpace page, Mee described as a “female version of a Hustla” and adds that “his heart is still in Vermont, where her father lives. The last time I logged on its website Sunday.

“My name is Jennifer, I’m almost 19, but do not be fooled by age, the struggles I’ve been through has made me grown so much. Im always chillin havin fun,” he wrote.

On his Facebook page, he alluded to drink and drugs – and visit a strip club. On his MySpace page, which published photos of her tongue piercing, its the camera with your finger and the photo of her boyfriend jail booking.

No mention of the hiccups.
