Indianapolis Colts, The NFL playoffs opened in the most dramatic fashion as the Indianapolis Colts pulled off the second biggest comeback in postseason history to beat the Kansas City Chiefs.

Andrew Luck led a huge second half effort to overturn a 28-point deficit as Indianapolis won 45-44.

The Chiefs lost key running back Jamaal Charles to a suspected concussion early but it did not appear to affect KC as Alex Smith threw four touchdown passes and Knile Davis ran for a score to help the Chiefs to a 38-10 lead early in the third quarter of the wild card game.

From there though it was all about Luck, who overcame three interceptions to throw three of his four touchdown passes in the second half – including the game-winning 64-yard throw to TY Hilton late on – as the Colts pulled off the second biggest comeback in playoff history. Luck also scored on a fumble return.

Chosen number one in the 2012 draft as a replacement for Peyton Manning, Luck has already built a reputation as a comeback king, engineering 10 fourth quarter or overtime regular season game winning drives, more than any other quarterback in his first two seasons.

Luck’s greatest comeback to date, in front of a frenzied home crowd, takes the Colts to a divisional playoff against either the Denver Broncos or New England Patriots.

“One for the ages, never seen anything quite like that,” said Colts’ head coach Chuck Pagano. “Our guys are unbelievable, we’ve been there many, many times before.

“You think about all we’ve been through, they’ve always comeback. We signed up for one thing (a championship) and one thing only and we all know what that is.”

The comeback was indeed one for the ages. Only once before had a team erased a bigger deficit to win a playoff game: the Buffalo Bills beat the Houston Oilers 41-38 in overtime in 1993.
