Grammys, updates

February 12, 2011 by · Comments Off on Grammys, updates

Grammys, Grammy Awards (originally called the Gramophone Awards)-or-is a Grammy Award by the National Academy of Arts and Sciences of the United States to recognize outstanding achievements in the music industry. The annual awards ceremony to performances by renowned artists and some of the prices of more popular interest are presented at a televised ceremony widely seen. It is the equivalent of music at the Emmy Awards for television, the Tony Awards for the stage, and the Oscars for film.

The awards were established in 1958. Before the first broadcast live Grammys in 1971 American Broadcasting Company (ABC), a series of annual special taped in the 1960s called the best on record were aired on National Broadcasting Company (NBC). The first Grammy broadcast took place on the night of November 29, 1959, an episode of the NBC anthology series Sunday Showcase, which is normally dedicated to games, original dramas and variety shows. Until 1971, the awards were held in New York and Los Angeles, with winners accepting at one of the two. Pierre Cossette bought the rights to broadcast the ceremony of the National Academy of Arts and Sciences and organized the first live broadcast. CBS Broadcasting purchased the rights in 1973 after moving the ceremony to Nashville, Tennessee; the American Music Awards were created for ABC as a result.

The 53rd Grammy Awards will be held February 13, 2011 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. It will be broadcast on CBS.

The Grammys are usually a means to highlight the indignant, stage-storming Kanye within us all. Unless you’re a big Phil Collins, Celine Dion or Kings of Leon fan, chances are good prices do not exactly jibe with the reality of your own choice of the best music for a given year. This, after all, is the institution, which has honored Milli Vanilli, “Do not Worry, Be Happy” and “Smooth”. But occasionally, something that qualifies as listenable glides among the nominees. And if you do not find anything super-disclosure between harvest this year (not really possible in a world where Iron Maiden and John Mayer are in place for the braces), if you took anything a Grammy for you automatically tempt to push a kebab skewer in your ear, open your mind and give a listen to these 10.

Nominated for: Best Rock Performance by a duo or group with vocals, best rock song, Producer of the Year

It is not because they did “SNL” and “Letterman” and they are appointed to all kinds of prices does not mean you still cannot love the Black Keys. Go ahead and give the whistle “from Stark’s opening at its end, wrung fuzz,” tightening “is Dan Auerbach and Patrick Carney to do what they do best – providing funky, bluesy melodies fused to cut -to-hunting-grunts of lust as “sick for days, so many ways, I feel bad now.” The most urgent sexy song of the year.

Grammys

Grammys, On Friday night, far from the machinations of the music industry and the pleasure of treating gold gramophones in a great old theater that doubles today that the Ukrainian Center for Culture of Greater Los Angeles, Arcade Fire – the indie band who, to Sunday 53rd Grammy Awards, will face the likes of Eminem and Lady Gaga for Album of the Year – threw what will probably be the largest UN official this week, anti-pre-Grammy party: a sweaty, exuberant, all ages show secret that felt a million miles removed from the award-show hysteria that has descended over much of the city.

Only 500 tickets were sold in a first-come, first served at three locations (a pair of record shops and the venerable El Rey Theatre) Friday afternoon. There was no red carpet outside or inside the VIP area at the eaves of a building yet to develop to 86-years now crumbling on a decidedly gritty stretch of Melrose Avenue. The group gave away “free drinks and cotton candy” before the show begins.

(CP) – A Grammy nomination is the culmination of the hard work of an artist. But for many candidates, it also marks the beginning of another important trip – looking fab day Grammys.

Hillary Scott of Lady Antebellum was kicked on diet and training since the group discovered they were up six awards including album of the year.

“Whenever we are not in the studio, I bite or something falls on my house,” she told The Associated Press in a recent interview.

The country trio will also perform on the live Grammy Sunday, and although Lady A Charles Kelley did not slip into a dress, he looks at what he eats, too.

“I ate lots of fried food, fried chicken during the holidays. So I’m back on the cup a little, but man, it will be difficult to limit alcohol consumption, “he said. “There’s too much to celebrate. So I will not back away from that at all.”

Her drink of choice? Whiskey and water.

“I must have my whiskey,” he said.

The Grammys are Karen Fairchild of country group Little Big Town sweat, but for reasons somewhat different from that of Scott.

“We do not even know what we wear until the day before,” said Fairchild, whose group was nominated for best country performance by a duo or group with vocals for “little white church.”

“We will go there and just wing,” she said.

Miranda Lambert is nominated for three awards and performing on the show for the first time. She said her coach was on the road with her almost daily since November.

“Grammy is like going long. We must prepare ourselves, “she said. “It’s a big deal. So I worked hard, eat well and just my head right to be there.”

Blake Shelton will be her fiance date for the big night.

“I hope we will continue our home Grammys for Valentine’s Day, she said.

The Grammys air live on Sunday.
