Giada’s Grandfather Is Film Mogul Dino De Laurentiis, Giada’s grandfather,Dino De Laurentiis was film mogul. He was resposible for producing over 500 movies. He died at the age of 91. Dino was the Oscar-winning producer and best known for his work on Serpico, Barbarella, King Kong, and Hannibal.

Dino De has passed away at his home in Beverly Hills, California on Wednesday night (November 10). The sad news was confirmed by his daughter Raffaella De Laurentiis.

Giada Pamela De Laurentiis was born in Rome, Italy, the eldest child of actress Veronica De Laurentiis and her first husband, actor-producer Alex De Benedetti; De Benedetti was a close associate of Giada’s grandfather.

Giada De Laurentiis, Giada de Laurentiis Covers Ladies’ Home Journal April 2012, She’s helped cooks around the world whip up delectable Italian dishes, and now Giada de Laurentiis finds herself featured on the cover of the April 2012 issue of Ladies’ Home Journal. The 41-year-old Italian American chef posed in a chic Phillip Lim frock for the publication’s front page while delivering a batch of surely tasty new recipes and opening up during a revealing personal interview.

On what changed her mind about having kids: “To be honest, I got pregnant by accident. I didn’t even admit the pregnancy to myself until I started showing at five months. I remember going into labor and saying to my husband, ‘Oh my God, this baby is going to change our lives forever.’ It was a scary moment. But our daughter has been such a joy, and now I can’t imagine life without her. Everyone asks when I’m going to have another one. I’m 41. The clock is ticking. If it happens, it happens.”

On how she’s able to stay calm with her busy schedule: “Any woman with children and a career feels a lot of stress. We think we are superwomen, but we’re not, and it’s okay to ask for help. My husband puts my daughter to bed and gets her up the morning. And I have two wonderful woman who help take care of Jade with me. But I want my daughter to see a strong woman who goes after what she wants. I used to feel so guilty when I left to travel for work, but now I think of it is my escape. It gives my husband time to miss me, and it’s bonding time for him and Jade.”

On what giving and getting validation means to her: “It meant the world to me when my grandfather said to me shortly before he died, ‘I’m proud of you. You were able to make such a life for yourself that didn’t have anything to do with me.’ Of course, my family is a big part of what I do. But hearing that, I suddenly felt like I was good enough, that my family really liked me. At and the day, that’s what I care about.”

Giada De Laurentiis Recipes, Emmy Award-winning personality Giada De Laurentiis has become a household name. With an impressive background of culinary training and a unique, personable charm, she is a globally revered celebrity chef who continues to prove her skill and accessibility not only with her expanding presence beyond Food Network but also with the great success of her cookbooks, brand alliances, newly launched food products and recurring role on the Today show.

Born in Rome, Giada grew up in a large Italian family where the culture of food was a staple in and of itself. As the granddaughter of film producer Dino De Laurentiis, Giada consistently found herself in the family’s kitchen and spent a great deal of time at her grandfather’s restaurant, DDL Foodshow. After graduating from the University of California in Los Angeles with a degree in anthropology, Giada’s passion for cooking remained. She eventually made the decision to commence a culinary career and began her professional training at Le Cordon Bleu in Paris, specializing in both cuisine and pastry. She subsequently returned to Los Angeles, where her training included positions at the prestigious Ritz-Carlton Fine Dining Room and Wolfgang Puck’s Spago in Beverly Hills. She later founded GDL Foods, a catering company in Los Angeles.

Giada’s career started on Food Network in 2002 when she was discovered by a network executive upon reading an article about her and the De Laurentiis family in Food & Wine magazine. Since then, Giada has earned an Emmy for Outstanding Lifestyle Host and has become one of Food Network’s most recognizable faces. Her Emmy Award-winning, daytime cooking show, Everyday Italian, featured quick, healthy and satisfying Italian dishes. Her prime-time show, Giada’s Weekend Getaways, debuted in January 2007 and followed Giada to popular destinations in and around the U.S. as she explored the cities’ most notable restaurants and activities. Giada’s overall success and notoriety yielded her a role as spokesperson for Barilla, the world’s largest producer and manufacturer of pasta. Giada took her relationship with Barilla one step further, entrusting the Italian arm of the brand, known as Academia Barilla, to license and produce four products under her name. The products, Extra-Virgin Olive Oil, Balsamic Vinegar, Tuscan Herb Mix, and Sea Salt with Fresh Lemon Zest, debuted in January 2008 for a limited run and was sold at Crate and Barrel stores as well as specialty gourmet shops across the country.

In January 2010, De Laurentiis partnered with Target to launch her own exclusive products for their chain of stores nationwide. The Giada De Laurentiis for Target collection offers guests the craftsmanship, quality and affordable prices they expect from Target. The assortment ranges from pasta sauces and flavored coffee to kitchen essentials, such as stainless steel cookware, ceramic bakeware and nylon tools, all designed with the at-home cook in mind. Giada works alongside fellow chef Bobby Flay on The Next Food Network Star as a mentor to the finalists. Giada Pamela De Laurentiis was born in Rome, Italy, the eldest child of actress Veronica De Laurentiis and her first husband, actor-producer Alex De Benedetti; De Benedetti was a close associate of Giada’s grandfather, film producer Dino De Laurentiis. Her parents were married in February 1970 but were later divorced. After their parents’ divorce, Giada and her siblings moved to Southern California where they took their mother’s surname.

Her maternal grandmother was Italian film star Silvana Mangano. Her siblings include sister Eloisa, a makeup artist, and brothers Dino Alexander (a Hollywood film editor who died of melanoma in 2003) and Igor. Her stepfather is producer Ivan Kavalsky. De Laurentiis graduated from Marymount High School in Los Angeles and holds a bachelor’s degree in social anthropology from UCLA (1996).
