WTMJ4, MILWAUKEE – The forecasters have predicted our first snowstorm of the season.”There will be a sizable storm,” said Brian Gotter Forecaster Storm Team Live at 3 over. Mechanical and city prepare for it. “We’ve been preparing this way for several weeks now,” said Jeff Tews with the Milwaukee Department of Public Works. Mechanics spent the day doing last minute fixes snow plows and other equipment in the garage near the MTP 21 and Canal in preparation for the storm expected this weekend.

“The trucks arrive and we spend a few hours with them,” said Tews. “We make sure everything is running, all lights are running and all the plows are working.” Essentially, the last time the plows had to work last spring. There was no measurable snow in November. It has been almost ten years since this happened.

And DPW spokeswoman Cecilia Gilbert said it means crews are ready to go more than ever, with 55,000 tons of salt for the season and hundreds of equipment ready, if this storm weekend packs a bigger punch. “If it’s a question a little faster, we might have to add additional equipment. We can have up to 355 pieces of equipment, if we must,” said Gilbert. Meaning, if the mechanical city, we are looking more to do, it seems Mother Nature is going to meet this demand. “And we’re ready to roll,” said Tews.
