Chris Cuomo:Chris Cuomo announced Thursday that, like Diane Sawyer, Friday would be his last day on ABC’s “Good Morning America.”

“I am leaving my position as news anchor tomorrow,” Cuomo told viewers. “I am blessed to be at ‘GMA,’ I thank all of you. Now I have been asked to anchor ’20/20′ with my friend, the great Elizabeth Vargas, and also to cover breaking news and get answers for all the shows on the network. It is a dream job for a journalist like me, but it was also a very difficult decision, because I am leaving a special place and crew and all of you and you are all part of my family. The good news is you never really leave family,” he said, promising “GMA” viewers that they’ll see his “mug” on the show in the future.

Cuomo will be replaced by JuJu Chang.

The network is expected to announce Thursday afternoon that George Stephanopoulos will join the program as anchor on Monday.

Diane Sawyer Leaving Gma:Diane Sawyer is leaving GMA. Diane Sawyer told GMA viewers she is leaving after this week. Sawyer’s departure for GMA is of no surprise to Sawyer fans who knew of her scheduled next job – ABC’s nightly program World News.

That gig for Sawyer starts in January. Charles Gibson will exit his slot on the World News anchor desk on December 18. ABC is setting to ease viewers into the entry of a new look and new approach with Sawyer, who LALATE adores. Also in focus for ABC is the competition. Who will take over Sawyer’s job? Chatter says George Stephanopoulos.
