Rehab Amy Winehouse, “Rehab” is a song by English singer-songwriter Amy Winehouse. It was released on 23 October 2006 as the first single from her second studio album Back to Black. It was written by Winehouse and produced by Mark Ronson. The lyrics are autobiographical, and talk about Winehouse’s refusal to enter a rehabilitation clinic. It peaked at number 7 in the United Kingdom on the UK Singles Chart and number 9 in the United States on the Billboard Hot 100.

It has since become a critical and commercial success internationally, and has been referred to as Amy Winehouse’s “signature song”. It won three Grammy Awards in 2008, including Record of the Year, Song of the Year, and Best Female Pop Vocal Performance, and was nominated for two more Grammy Awards. It also won a Ivor Novello Award for Best Contemporary Song. Winehouse’s subsequent public battle with drug and alcohol addiction has resulted in some of the song’s popularity and appearance in the media. The song has been covered by a list of artists. Two remixes featuring American rappers Jay-Z and Pharoahe Monch were released in 2008. A further remix by the electronic band Hot Chip was released in the United Kingdom.

Blue-eyed Soul, Blue-eyed soul (also known as white soul or pop soul) is a media term that was used to describe rhythm and blues and soul music performed by white artists, with a strong pop music influence. The term was first used in the mid-1960s to describe white artists who performed soul and R&B that was similar to the music of the Motown and Stax record labels. The somewhat controversial term was coined during racial segregation in 1960s America at the time of the music genre’s emergence in popular music culture.

The term continued to be used in the 1970s and 1980s, particularly by the British music press, to describe a new generation of white singers who adopted elements of classic soul music. To a lesser extent, the term has been applied to singers in other music genres that are influenced by soul music, such as urban music and hip-hop soul.

Famous who died young: Amy Winehouse, Amy Jade Winehouse (14 September 1983 – 23 July 2011) was an English singer and songwriter known for her powerful deep contralto vocals and her eclectic mix of musical genres including R&B, soul and jazz. Winehouse’s 2003 debut album, Frank, was critically successful in the UK and was nominated for the Mercury Prize.

Her 2006 follow-up album, Back to Black, led to six Grammy Award nominations and five wins, tying the then record for the most wins by a female artist in a single night, and made Winehouse the first British female to win five Grammys, including three of the “Big Four”: Best New Artist, Record of the Year and Song of the Year.

In 2007 she won a Brit Award for Best British Female Artist; she had also been nominated for Best British Album. She won the Ivor Novello Award three times: once in 2004 for Best Contemporary Song (musically and lyrically) for “Stronger Than Me”, once in 2007 for Best Contemporary Song for “Rehab”, and once in 2008 for Best Song Musically and Lyrically for “Love Is a Losing Game”.

Winehouse died of alcohol poisoning on 23 July 2011. Her album Back to Black subsequently became the UK’s best selling album of the 21st century thus far.
