Official Time, Daylight saving time (DST) ends today! Daylight Saving Time, starting in the spring of each year and ends in the fall, actually ends today, November 7.

You should have turned all the clocks (except those computer chip or drive satellite) back one hour.

The date we turn our clocks to end the last Sunday in October, but now ends the first Sunday in November. This year, that date is November 7.

It is also used to start the first Sunday in April, now starts the second Sunday in March. This year, that date was March 14. In 2011, we will move our clocks ahead one hour to save time on 13 March.

Daylight Saving Time was designed to buy more hours of light (and therefore use less energy at night).

Benjamin Franklin was the first to suggest daylight saving time in 1784, but not implemented until 1895.

Official TimeOfficial Time:Every year during spring the clocks move forward and during fall the clocks revert back to Standard Time  and this year the official time that people will switch their clocks is Sunday at 2:00 am. The main purpose of day light saving is to save more net energy but the states of Hawaii, Arizona and some countries in Arizona do not practice Daylight Savings Time. In 2005 President Bush signed a law about DST. This law created a debate if it really saves energy or not. After that some said that it really saves energy but on the other hand some said this savings is offset by using more energy in the morning hours. DST applies from every second Sunday of March and it will end on 7th November.

Official Time 1The idea of DST was originated by Benjamin Franklin as one day he woke up at six and he saw that his room was filled with light. He thought that the light was from the lamp but he later realized that it was the light of the sun rising from the horizon. He wrote a latter to the editors of the ?ournal of Parisin 1784 that,

“I looked into the almanac, where I found it to be the hour given for his rising on that day. I looked forward, too, and found he was to rise still earlier every day till towards the end of June.”

Franklin proposed measures like taxes and penalties to ensure that citizens efficiently utilized the daylight and limit the use of candles. It was first time put into practice during the World War-1 and they took the step to save energy to utilize it for other purposes.
