Wwmt, (AP) – Police say a Kalamazoo man was 19 years old Kalamazoo escape police when his vehicle ran a red light and struck another car, killing a father aged 45, married with three children.
Kalamazoo Gazette and WWMT-TV say 45-year-old Brian James Arra Portage was killed about 22 hours Tuesday when his car was struck on the driver side.
Police said the unidentified suspect fled police after an officer tried to arrest him for having license plates does not conform. Public Safety Chief Jeff Hadley said the officer did not pursue the vehicle and no other agents in contact with the vehicle before the accident.
Police said the suspect was treated at a hospital and faces charges of escape and evade the police, causing death and driving without a license, cause death.
