(AP) – Home Depot Inc. will hire more than 60,000 seasonal workers to help with its busy spring season. The world’s largest retailer of home improvement says he will fill the positions before his promotion spring second edition of Black Friday.

“Spring is our Christmas, and traffic is at its highest during this season,” Craig Menear, executive vice president for merchandising, said in a statement Tuesday.

The workers, who will be hired and trained in February and March, will be in all markets. Home Depot currently has over 300,000 employees.

The Atlanta Company said it will also add some permanent part-time and full time jobs this year, but did not specify how much.

Home Depot announced today that it would hire 1,000 workers in metro Detroit and 2,100 statewide as part of a recruitment campaign for its busy spring selling season.

Candidates can apply online on the Web site Homedepot.com or one of 71 stores in Michigan.

These are part-time jobs lasting about 90 days, said Jen King, Home Depot spokesman. Each store will hire about 25 to 30 workers.

The nation’s largest home improvement retailer will not divulge the date of the event Spring Black Friday for competitive reasons, “she said. It plans to hire 60,000 seasonal workers nationally.
