Rhinebeck Ny, Rhinebeck, NY – Chelsea Clinton was about to marry his longtime boyfriend in an exclusive residential complex along the Hudson River in New York after weeks of secrecy and the accumulation of well-known analysts who had come to the small Village of the wedding on Saturday night.
The crowd began to form at mid-morning, after weeks of intrigue and secrecy about a ceremony with a VIP guest list said to include figures such as Oprah Winfrey and Steven Spielberg.
The daughter of 30 years of Bill Clinton and Hillary Rodham Clinton is expected to be married to her boyfriend, investment banker Marc Mezvinsky, in a ceremony with 400-500 guests. Details of the wedding was held fanatically close to the vest, with merchants, restaurateurs and retailers to secrecy. Roads were blocked, the skies were closed on the property and neighbors quieted bothered with a bottle of wine.
Vena Donna drove 50 miles from his home in Mount Kisco Rhinebeck, New York, hoping to spot a celebrity.
“Why not?” Asked on Saturday morning, a camera slung over his shoulder. “The history of Great. You may see Oprah.”
Nearby, two young men passed out slices of pizza with “I” written in pepperoni.
Hundreds of people gathered outside the hotel where many of the guests stay were awarded on Friday night, when the Clintons came out of a van-arm in arm outside the Beekman Arms Hotel.
Shortly before 11 am, the former first lady, wearing a long green dress, waved to the crowd of spectators waiting behind metal barricades and quickly entered the hotel. He left with the former president of half an hour later.
Earlier Friday, Bill Clinton made his appearance around lunchtime, leaving a car and walk a few blocks, greeting people on their way to a restaurant. Looking fit and relaxed in blue jeans and a black knit shirt, which gave easy answers to questions shouted by fans and reporters.
The wedding will take place in the Astor Court, an isolated farm along the Hudson River, built as a Beaux Arts-style park of John Jacob Astor, for over a century IV. The estate has the kind of commanding view that once inspired painters of the Hudson River School, as well as 50 acres of buffer area to protect from prying eyes.
Chelsea Clinton and Mezvinsky were friends as teenagers in Washington, and both attended Stanford University. Now living in New York, where he works on G3 Mezvinsky Capital, a Manhattan hedge fund. Mezvinsky previously worked at Goldman Sachs in investment banking.
Clinton finished his master’s degree in public health earlier this year at the Mailman School of Public Health at Columbia University.
Mezvinsky is the son of former U.S. congressmen Marjorie Margolies-Mezvinsky of Pennsylvania and Ed Mezvinsky of Iowa, old friends of the Clintons. His parents are divorced.
