Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador Tests Positive for COVID-19

Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador announced on Sunday that he has tested positive for COVID-19, marking his third known infection.

. Although he reported mild symptoms from his previous bouts with the virus, the 69-year-old, who suffered a serious heart attack in 2013, stated that he would take a few days off. Despite this, he assured the public that his heart is at 100%.

Lopez Obrador confirmed that his Interior Minister, Adan Augusto Lopez, would host his regular morning news conference in his absence. In January 2022, Lopez Obrador underwent cardiac catheterization, where he was declared to be in good health.
