Britain Takes A Drastic Step In Combating ISIL, British Prime Minister David Cameron announced Friday during a pointed press conference that U.K. authorities will soon begin revoking the passports of citizens traveling to Syria.

The move is part of a series of new security measures being taken by the country after raising the terror threat level to “severe” as Cameron admitted the fight to end Islamist extremism may take decades, or even generations.

“We are in the middle of a generational struggle against a poisonous & extremist ideology,” Cameron declared.

British authorities raised the terror threat level Friday to one below “critical,” the highest alert, because it is felt an attack is likely, according to Cameron.

“What we’re facing in Iraq and Syria now with ISIL is a deeper and greater threat to our security than we have ever known before,” Cameron said.

Mystery of Death Valley’s ‘sailing stones’ solved

Mystery of Death Valley’s ‘sailing stones’ solved, For years, enormous stones have been moving across the Racetrack Playa of Death Valley National Park, leaving engraved trails in the muddy surface behind. No one understood how, though there was plenty of speculation, according to researchers at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography at University of California San Diego.

Last year the researchers, Richard Norris and James Norris, placed stones equipped with GPS devices on the same stretch of land, then waited and watched.

“We recorded the first direct scientific observation of rock movements using GPS-instrumented rocks and photography, in conjunction with a weather station and time-lapse cameras,” the authors wrote in a study published in the journal PLOS One.

On Dec. 20, 2013, they witnessed 60 rocks move across the land.

They discovered that the very thin ice that trapped the rocks during winter melted in the midday sun, and then the ice and water and rocks were all blown by wind, making it seem as if the stones moved by themselves.

“In contrast with previous hypotheses of powerful winds or thick ice floating rocks off the playa surface, the process of rock movement that we have observed occurs when the thin, three to six [millimeter], “windowpane” ice sheet covering the playa pool begins to melt in late morning sun and breaks up under light winds of (about four to five meters per second),” they wrote.

Apple iPhone 5 Recall, Apple said “a very small percentage” of iPhone 5 smartphones may “suddenly experience shorter battery life or need to be charged more frequently.”

Don’t get too excited just yet. After a year or two, everyone’s iPhone battery seems to carry less juice than it once did. But Apple’s repair program is limited to certain customers in the United States and China.

Only iPhone 5 smartphones sold between September 2012 and January 2013 are eligible, and only those that fall within a certain range of serial numbers. Apple has opened a website that allows people to determine whether their phones are eligible. (To access your serial number, tap Settings > General > About > Serial Number).

Apple announced an even smaller iPhone 5S battery recall program last year. In June, Apple issued a recall in 37 countries for European iPhone chargers that were overheating.

When cops arrived on scene, we’re told they discovered Nick was driving on a suspended license and cops felt Gordon’s behavior gave them probable cause to arrest him for DUI.

We’re told police did not conduct a breathalyzer test, but they are seeking a warrant for a blood test.
