Matthew Stafford to Engaged

March 31, 2014 by · Comments Off on Matthew Stafford to Engaged

Matthew Stafford to Engaged, The old rule of thumb is that a man should spend about three months salary on an engagement ring. Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford signed a three-year, $53 million extension last year, work out the annual average and it comes to about $4.4 million for a ring.

Stafford probably didn’t hit that mark on the ring he gave to his longtime girlfriend Kelly Hall when they recently got engaged, but it sure seems like he came pretty close.

Judging by a few photos on Instagram, one by Kelly’s brother and NFL receiver Chad Hall (which is at the top of the post) and another from Kelly Hall herself, she might need an assistant to help her carry around her left hand from now on.

GM Recalls 1.3 Million Cars For Steering Defect

GM Recalls 1.3 Million Cars For Steering Defect, General Motors Co. said Monday it is recalling 1.5 million vehicles worldwide because the electronic power-steering assist can suddenly stop working, making them harder to steer.

The new recall brings to 6.3 million the number of vehicles GM has recalled since February. The initial recall – now at 2.6 million small cars for an ignition switch defect – prompted the automaker to name a new safety chief and speed up the review of cases that might lead to recalls.

GM said it expects recall-related costs to total $750 million in the first quarter, including $300 million for the ignition switch recall.

Included in the new recall are:

– Chevrolet Malibu from the 2004-2005 model years, plus some 2006, 2008 and 2009 model-year cars.

7.5 Quake Could Be Disastrous To California

7.5 Quake Could Be Disastrous To California, Experts say a bigger earthquake along the lesser-known fault that gave Southern California a moderate shake could do more damage to the region than the long-dreaded “Big One” from the more famous San Andreas Fault.

The Puente Hills thrust fault, which brought Friday night’s magnitude-5.1 quake centered in La Habra and well over 100 aftershocks by Sunday, stretches from northern Orange County under downtown Los Angeles into Hollywood – a heavily populated swath of the Los Angeles area.

A magnitude-7.5 earthquake along that fault could prove more catastrophic than one along the San Andreas, which runs along the outskirts of metropolitan Southern California, seismologists said.

The U.S. Geological Survey estimates that such a quake along the Puente Hills fault could kill 3,000 to 18,000 people and cause up to $250 billion in damage. In contrast, a larger magnitude 8 quake along the San Andreas would cause an estimated 1,800 deaths.

MH370: Hopes Dashed As Orange Objects Turn Out To Be Fishing Equipment, Potential leads on the missing Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 keep coming. So do the setbacks and frustrations.

Monday’s search ended without finding anything significant, Australian officials said. Four orange objects spotted by search aircraft and earlier described as promising turned out be nothing more than old fishing gear, they said.

Underscoring the difficulty of the search, U.S. Navy officials loaded underwater locating gear aboard an Australian naval support vessel and set out to sea Monday evening, but won’t be able to make use of the equipment until searchers narrow the search zone.

U.S. Navy Cmdr. William Marks told CNN’s “State of the Union” that his team needs a conclusive piece of debris to narrow down the search area before deploying the equipment.

“We have to be careful not to send it in the wrong place,” he said. “But we also wanted to get it out there as close as we can to what we believe is the right place.”
