Gestapo Chief’s Fate Shocking To German Jews, Gestapo chief Heinrich Mueller, the most senior Nazi whose fate has until now remained unknown, died in Berlin in 1945 and, in a chilling twist for an organizer of the Holocaust, lies in a Jewish cemetery, a German historian says.

Mueller, who ran the Gestapo secret police before and during World War II, was last spotted in Adolf Hitler’s bunker in Berlin the day after the Nazi leader committed suicide in 1945.

Obama Won’t Go To Gettysburg, President Barack Obama will not attend next month’s event marking the 150th anniversary of Abraham Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address in Pennsylvania, national park officials said.

U.S. Secretary of the Interior Sally Jewell will instead represent the administration the Nov. 19 sesquicentennial, officials at Gettysburg National Military Park said Wednesday.

Jewell and historian James McPherson will share the role of keynote speaker. Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Corbett also plans to attend the ceremony.

Father Was Killed While He Slept, A judge in California ruled Thursday that a 13-year-old boy who shot and killed his neo-Nazi father must serve up to 10 years in a state juvenile facility.

Joseph Hall, who was 10-years-old at the time of the shooting, will be eligible for parole in 7 years, according to a ruling on Thursday by Judge Jean Leonard of Riverside County. Judge Leonard ruled that the maximum time Hall can serve would be until he is 23.

The ruling comes after months of arguments about where to place the boy after he was convicted of second-degree murder in January.

Prosecutors had sought for him to placed in the state’s juvenile justice system, but the boy’s defense attorneys argued for him to be placed in a residential treatment center

Few names have cast more terror into the human heart than Dracula. The legendary vampire, created by author Bram Stoker for his 1897 novel of the same name, has inspired countless horror movies, television shows and other bloodcurdling tales of vampires.

Though Dracula may seem like a singular creation, Stoker in fact drew inspiration from a real-life man with an even more grotesque taste for blood: Vlad III, Prince of Wallachia or – as he is better known – Vlad the Impaler (Vlad Tepes), a name he earned for his favorite way of dispensing with his enemies.

Health Site Restored (again), The troubled federal health insurance website, which went offline just before a climactic hearing in Congress, is back in action again, officials said Thursday as tech gurus from companies including Google, Oracle and Red Hat joined the effort to fix the beleaguered site.

They said Healthcare.gov was working and handling fairly high volumes. And after days of badgering from Congress, journalists and critics, officials named two of the tech whizzes drafted to help fix the troubled site.

“Our focus now is really on maintaining system stability and testing,” Julie Bataille, a spokesperson for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, which runs the site, told reporters in a telephone briefing.
