Dave Chappelle Walks Off Stage

Dave Chappelle Walks Off Stage, Comedian Dave Chappelle walked off stage after refusing to continue his comedy set, headlining the Oddball Comedy and Curiosity Festival when the tour performed at the Comcast Theatre in Hartford on Thursday night.

The comic began his set to wild applause from the crowd at the Comcast Theatre in Hartford, delivering an opening to routine which candidly addressed changes in both pop culture and himself, since his 2005 split with Comedy Central and subsequent disappearance from the mainstream.

However, several audience members became increasingly disruptive, which visibly bothered Chappelle, and the comedian put his act on hold in an effort to quiet the vocal audience members. This lead to more hecklers joining an increasingly loud crowd, which resulted in Chappelle abandoning his material and sitting quietly on a stool in the center of the stage, explaining that he had been contracted for a 25 minute performance and he would simply wait for the time to be up and then leave.

True to his word, amidst more boos and heckles from an increasingly angry audience, Chappelle put down his microphone and left the stage, indicating he would “never come back here [to Hartford].”

NBC Connecticut is reporting that Hartford Police dispatched extra patrols to the Comcast Theatre as a precaution.

Simon Cowell Silverman, Love is in the air — and they don’t care who knows it! Now that Simon Cowell’s relationship with pregnant New York City socialite Lauren Silverman is out in the open, the parents-to-be are happily indulging in some low-key public displays of affection. Reuniting in the French Riviera on Aug. 21, the couple held hands and kissed for all to see.

“They had so much to catch up on, and there were no distractions,” a source shares in the Sept. 9 issue of Us Weekly, on stands now. “Plus, they love that they don’t have to hide anything anymore.”

The X Factor judge, 53, is “very attentive to Lauren,” pal Michael Hunter adds. Case in point? A source tells Us that Cowell treated his 14-weeks-pregnant girlfriend to a romantic trip to Cannes and a $12,000-a-night suite at the Hotel du Cap Eden Roc during their recent reunion.

Kenai Fjords National Park, The warmer-than-normal temperatures experienced in June continued into July in the Kenai Fjords area. Temperatures above 70 degrees F were recorded at the Seward airport on eight days, including one day, July 18th, when the temperature climbed to 81 degrees F, setting a new maximum temperature for the day. The warm temperatures in July 2013 contrasted starkly with the cool July of 2012 when the average monthly temperature was 6.2 degrees F less than this year.

Precipitation was also notable in July. As recorded at the Seward airport, more than two times the July average precipitation was received during the first seven days of the month. 2.77 inches, (nearly 100% of the 30-year average for the month), were received in a single day, July 1st. The last three weeks of the month were dry with only .03 inches of precipitation recorded on two separate days during the final week of the month.

Above normal temperatures were reported throughout Kenai Fjords National Park. The Harding Icefield, Pedersen Lagoon, and McArthur Pass Remote Automated Weather Stations (RAWS) and the Exit Glacier SNOTEL each recorded maximum high average temperatures for the month for their relatively short, yet expanding, periods of record (9, 2, 6, and 2 years, respectively). Temperatures at the Harding Icefield RAWS, located at 4,200 feet, are most notable. The average temperature for the month was 5.6 degrees F above the July average for the eight year period of record for that station.

As recorded at the Seward airport, total precipitation for the month was 6.28 inches (224% of normal), 3.48 inches above the 30-year average (1981-2010) for the month. The monthly average temperature for July was 58.96 degrees F; 2.96 degrees F above the 30-year average. In general, winds were relatively calm throughout the month with maximum average wind speeds of 12.8 mph recorded on July 20th.

Yosemite National Park, Tuolumne Meadows, CA, US

Yosemite National Park, Tuolumne Meadows, CA, US, Yosemite National Park officials made additional closures as a precaution and because of air quality as a massive wildfire raged nearby.

The Rim fire, which is burning in and around the park, has scorched nearly 134,000 acres over the last eight days and is 7% contained.

The eastern edge of the fire is active, with increased winds pushing the blaze in that direction and creating huge columns of smoke, said U.S. Forest Service spokesman Dick Fleishman.

“Combine that with terrain and dry fuels and it’s all making for a recipe that’s giving them a hard time,” he said.

Firefighters can usually make headway during the night and early morning when the winds settle down and the humidity increases, he said. But once the inversion layer lifts, he said, the humidity drops.

Park officials closed White Wolf, including the lodge, campground, road and trails, due to smoky conditions Sunday afternoon.

Though they are not in imminent danger, the Merced and Tuolumne Groves of Giant Sequoias were also closed so firefighters could work on fire prevention efforts. Tamarack Flat Campground and Yosemite Creek Campground were being vacated because of slow ingress and egress.

The entrance from Highway 120 on the west side of the park, the Hodgdon Meadow campground and the Hetch Hetchy backpackers’ campground remained closed Sunday.

Popular areas in the park such as Yosemite Valley, Glacier Point, Wawona, Mariposa Grove, Crane Flat and Tuolumne Meadows were open Sunday.

Winds will be the biggest challenge for firefighters in the coming days. Ridge winds are expected to increase this afternoon and tonight, which could hamper containment efforts, said Kevin Durfee, a National Weather Service meteorologist in Hanford.

“It really looks like the weather is not going to be terribly cooperative in the next three days,” he said.
