Wild Wild West

Wild Wild WestWild Wild West:Hello everyone! I’m still a bit drowsy of delays and long flights arrive last night, but wanted to share a few shots horse to visit my friend who lives in and manages a horse ranch in Wyoming for the National Outdoor Leadership School. It was my last big trip before the baby comes this fall and I loved every second of being in the open sky, sun, cool nights, and even the air with the smell of horse. I’m not very comfortable with the horse (by some reason, I always feel as if you’re kicking or stepping on me), but this trip I was warming to the big boys.

This, above right, is Leo. Leo came to the ranch last August as a wild mustang and is a total love. He went down with an infection recently that I was there, so we were disqualified him on the grass every day. Well, it was – but I was petting him, I’m sure that helped:) This is Squirt mate, who stood beside him all the time – is so cute. It’s nice to be home, clean and a shower, but I’m a little lost these guys this morning.

USA Ghana

June 26, 2010 by · Comments Off on USA Ghana

USA GhanaUSA Ghana:Rustenburg, South Africa – the fact that the drama was not game to game, minute by minute during the first round of this World Cup, despite the U.S. national team had a lead of only two or three minutes that followed Landon Donovan victory over Algeria, there is no doubt that Americans belong to the second round.

U.S. were 1-0-2, going undefeated in the playoffs for the first time since 1930, playing football selfless, end to end. They managed to score six goals, four of which have border and three of them spectacular, and fans that have galvanized the country and here in South Africa, with its unity and its ability to rise to the occasion.

Now, just three days after sealing his place in the history of U.S. soccer, the national team put it all on the line of true world class and a place in the quarterfinals of the World Cup. Standing in the way of Ghana, a formidable enemy that sealed the disposal of the Americans four years ago and will be motivated by its own pursuit of history – is the only African team left in this World Cup in Africa.

At stake

Unless you are Brazil and Germany, reached the quarterfinals of the World Cup is a significant achievement and a true sign that has had a successful tournament. For the U.S., plus the feeling of accomplishment, the possibility of greater reward waiting.

By virtue of winning Group C and a lucky draw, the U.S. is located in a very marketable round of 16. Any of Uruguay and South Korea, two decent teams that do not really scare anyone, await the winner of Saturday’s US-Ghana in the quarterfinals. It is the first installment of four teams without a European team in the finals.

This is the best route for access to the World Cup semifinals for the U.S. since 1930, when only 13 teams participated in the inaugural competition. This time, 204 countries entered. Standing among the last eight, and possibly the final four would be the greatest achievement in American soccer history.

A defeat against Ghana and elimination, as soon after the euphoria of victory in Algeria, would be a deflating anticlimax and would bring a sudden (albeit temporary) to stop the momentum of football in the U.S.

“There is so much at the first round in many ways,” said Donovan. “Now, in many ways is very simplistic. It is a game, you lose you go home. There are ramifications for other games, other results, nothing more. Only worry about Saturday’s game. The pressure is off and can only go and enjoy it and I think we will play well in these circumstances. ”

U.S. Outlook

Having only two full days between games such critics certainly was not ideal, but Ghana is facing the same circumstances. The Americans have shown to have considerable mental resolution, and have proven to be one of the most in-form teams in the tournament.

Coach Bob Bradley Algeria before the game showed that he is willing to roll the dice with your alignment. Oguchi Onyewu Removing the center of defense and the insertion of left Jonathan Bornstein was a surprise when it is inspired in retrospect. Onyewu had a lot of minutes for a player who had been out for seven months, and Bornstein rose to the occasion and helped to quickly turn the flank players of Algeria.

Ghana played with one striker up top, the powerful Asamoah Gyan (a teammate Carlos Bocanegra Rennes in the French club team). Onyewu Bradley Will bring back to help contain Gyan, or does it make sense to leave Bocanegra in the middle to help manage a player who is familiar? In any case, the center of the defense (also including Jay DeMerit) will be much more critical against Ghana in the match in Algeria.

“It’s an athletic player,” Bocanegra said Gyan. “He has a big jump. He is really good in the air. It’s powerful and fast, so leading the attack.”

U.S. strength and conditioning coach Pierre Barrieu said during the week Onyewu was 90% in his recovery from a knee injury in the long term. Surely the days of rest did him good.

Up front, Robbie Findley is back from suspension (which received two yellow cards in the first two games), and Bradley will undoubtedly be the temptation to reinsert the Real Salt Lake striker in the starting lineup to help stretch a defense pact with his speed Black Star. U.S. objectives have been from the midfielders (marked no American interest in the past seven games). The role of the forwards’ has been to create space for teammates to attack from deep positions.

The prospect of Ghana

Black Stars have been impressive considering the fact that their best player, the Chelsea star Michael Essien has lost the World Cup with an injured knee. Ghana (1-1-1) D rose from a very balanced group including Germany, Serbia and Australia. All their games were tight – defeated Serbia 1-0, drew 1-1 with Germany and Australia lost 1-0.

“I thought we struggle a little without Essien, but I think I looked pretty good,” Donovan said. ‘Their athleticism is hard to treat.

Ghana has been a continental power for years (which has won four championships in Africa), but this is only his second World Cup. On his first visit four years ago, which advanced from the group stage before being dismantled by Brazil. That experience, plus the confidence of some younger players who recently won the U-20 World Cup, should be a force this time.

Gyan is the key man up above, and the midfield is led by Kwadwo Asamoah Sunderland. The defense is outstanding, meeting by robust Jonathan Mensah (also in Sunderland) and Clint Dempsey Fulham teammate John Paintsil, which blocks the right.

Ghana somewhat surprising, went without scoring a goal since the game logic. They managed only two goals in their three group games, both penalty kicks.

“They have some scorers of his team,” continued Bocanegra. “We know what we can. Goals come and go in this tournament. Germany scored four in his first game and then was held scoreless in the second. You never really have a team with not being able to score goals.”

History

Four years ago, the advance of the Americans in the World Cup depended on a victory over Ghana. U.S. was 0-1-1 heading into the final of the first round after tying Italy in a very physical encounter before a few days. Dempsey scored a brilliant goal to level proceedings at 1-1 draw but then the German referee Merk Markus Onyewu whistled for a foul inside the area that is still opposed by those who were there. It seemed to be incidental contact (United States history with poor World Cup referee started long before this summer.)

Black Star veteran Stephen Appiah buried the penalty in injury time the first half and held on for Ghana’s 2-1 win.

Six U.S. players who were in the field that day are on the computer Nuremberg, 2010 – Donovan, Bocanegra, Onyewu, Dempsey, Steve Cherundolo and DaMarcus Beasley.

“That was not a good day for me or the team,” says Donovan. “What I remember most is my provisional staff, and the feeling immediately after the end of it and how disappointing it was.

“I’ve already put that behind me. This is an opportunity to do something special.”

U.S. has played in four games to eliminate World Cup history. Is 1-3.

1930 Semifinal: Argentina 6, United States 1
1994 Round 16: Brazil 1, USA 0
2002 Round 16: United States 2, Mexico 0
2002 / 4 finals: Germany 1, USA 0

It is a brilliant story. U.S. could overcome everything in the coming days.

“It’s not a failure if we do not win on Saturday, but there is such a great opportunity to do something much more special, and I really want to emphasize that everyone and make sure you understand that,” said Donovan.

IHOP Menu

IHOP Menu:First, I have to admit that when traveling abroad like me and my wife and my children have done on many occasions, it’s nice to see an IHOP. The food is almost always good (love the sauce, sausage and biscuits, which in some countries it is almost impossible to make yourself), and reminds you of home. But …

There is some IHOP in the city of Lynnwood, Washington, which nearly ruined our good memories of IHOP. It has all the hits from IHOP in the menu, so that is not the problem. However, the problem lies in the fact that this particular, International House of Pancakes would be more appropriately referred to as the International Pancakes closet because that’s about the size of the place. That, and the Emo-esque misanthropic made us sit here too much to bear.

First, the place is almost inaccessible from either side of the highway, easy access cordoned off a curb formidable. The easiest and best way to achieve this is to go to IHOP a block down and then cut through the parking lot of various businesses so as to arrive from the rear. Then you have to figure out where to park. The best place is usually by the container (which will feed the appetite), as the parking spaces next to the IHOP are more suitable for Volkswagen Beetles and Minis vintage, there is no way I could maneuver my Suburban there without difficulty. That alone is simply too much of a hassle for a plate of sausage gravy and biscuits, but, then again, I really wanted to go to IHOP, so I endured.

Once you get into the restaurant and are seated, and there is sometimes a line from the entrance to the outside (because only a few will fit inside the door on both seats), composed of people who like to starve almost to unconsciousness before eating, you have to get into chairs meant for a circus dwarf chimpanzees and, possibly, on the tables, or sit on the bar stools that require you to balance on one cheek. There’s absolutely no space on site, and the wait staff must turn sideways in the course of serving trays.

If it were not for the fact that the dressing room in our bedroom is bigger than the inside of this total IHOP, which probably has more room to move in the straitjacket of his seat, and if I could just pull in and park instead of driving around my elbow to get to my thumb “(not to mention having to park near a trash can), this place can not be bad at all. The price was decent, although we had to wait a little that the food arrives. But good food can not be undone all the other problems.

The next time you feel like going out for breakfast or a midnight meal we’ll go to Denny’s on the street instead.

Pros:
IHOP is a
The price is pretty good

Cons:
A shoe box is larger than the inside of the place. Seriously
It takes a long time to get seated
The seats were so small that you have the wedge in them
Small tables, uncomfortable chairs

Vincent Price

Vincent PriceVincent Price:Ready to finish the night with a tribute to the late King of Pop? ABC has got you covered with a special look back at the legacy of Michael Jackson, including an overview of the management of his property and children today. It could only be better if Vincent Price narrated and said: “There Joe Jackson at closing to seal his fate.” But we can not get what we want sometimes. And for good reason, really.

Friday Night Lights [ABC], 20:00
As Jess finally decides to choose between Landry and Vince, Eric realizes that this is Dillion chockablock with problems not related to football. I want oil rigs, and an environmental message into play, although I do not think that is what is happening.

Flashpoint [CBS], 21:00
A child custody battle gets ugly, and finally, children should be saved with the help of a road block. My God! Expect smaller early to sell this well. Perhaps one of them is played by Keisha Castle-Hughes dressed as a child of four years or something.

20/20 [ABC, 9 pm]
The first anniversary of the death of Michael Jackson celebrates with a visit to Neverland Ranch and interviews with officials from the King of Pop’s. I want the children to Jackson to be tearfully referred to as “PYTs as” everything.

Happy Gilmore Encore [,] 20:00
Troublemakers hockey player Adam Sandler took courses in this comedy that also features a very pissed-off Bob Barker. Julie Bowen Modern family also co-star, and this time is the member most restless of the group. Regards to avoid typecasting.
