Billy Joel’s Refusal to Sell Certain Tickets Costs Him Over $20,000 per Concert

Billy Joel, a classic rock icon, remains a highly popular concert performer, known for his sold-out shows at Madison Square Garden and worldwide tours. Despite earning a considerable sum from his live performances, Joel refuses to sell a specific type of ticket, causing him to lose over $20,000 for each show.
Joel’s love for his hometown, New York City, is evident in his concert locations. He almost exclusively performs in Manhattan, particularly at the 20,000-seat Madison Square Garden, where he has played at least one show every month since 2014.
However, when not performing in New York, he plays in packed stadiums across the globe, from Dublin to Las Vegas, London to Los Angeles, and from Mexico City to Melbourne, selling millions of dollars’ worth of tickets per show.
