Ash Wednesday Holiday

Ash Wednesday Holiday, SC (WMBF) It’s Fat Tuesday, or Mardi Gras, which for some may be your last day of indulgence before the Lenten Season begins.

The pre-Lenten holiday Mardi Gras comes with its own traditions, including King Cake, pancakes, parades and dancing.

Ash Wednesday, observed this year on Feb. 22, begins the season of Lent where many Christians fast and focus on the reason for the Easter season.

We asked our WMBF News Facebook fans what they’d be giving up for Lent this year.

Evelyn Pridgen said, “Same thing I always do & in honor of my Dad (because that’s what he gave up too ) WATERMELON ! lol.”

“Candy, cookies and Facebook!,” said Bob Doyle.
