80 Year Old Son Saves Fisherman, 80 year old son saves fisherman-80 year old son saves fisherman, air sea rescue. A 64-year-old rock fisherman fell up to six metres from the top of Australia’s Yamba breakwall last month, suffering injuries to his head and body.

He was rescued by an 80-year-old retired navy seaman Les Cook and his 55-year-old son Kevin. The 64-year-old had packed up his fishing gear when he slipped and fell backwards over the eight-metre-high break wall. Waves battered the man against the rocks.

Within seconds, Kevin, squeezed his “10 stone” frame through a crack in the wall and dived into the ocean. Kevin grabbed ahold of the man, who had “half his face smashed open.” Cook remained holding the injured man for about 15 minutes until the dramatic air sea rescue by the Northern Region Westpac Rescue Helicopter.
