World b Free:The wife of former NBA All-Star World B. Free was shot to death Sunday night after thugs jumped her niece’s ex-con boyfriend outside the family’s Brooklyn home, police and relatives said.

Audrey Johnson, 51, went outside her family’s Clinton Hill home about 9:30 p.m. to end the beatdown when shots rang out – and a bullet smashed into her head.

Johnson, who lived in New Jersey and was in town visiting family, died on the street where she spent her childhood, her stunned family told the Daily News last night.

“She’s just an innocent victim of gun violence,” said her devastated brother Kenny Johnson, 47. “She was a beautiful person.”

Audrey Johnson’s nephew Daniel Johnson, 14, was shot in the leg and was in stable condition at Kings County Hospital last night.

The gunfire erupted outside the family’s Clifton Place home shortly after two men attacked Laquan Williams, 25, whose girlfriend is Audrey Johnson’s niece, police and the family said.

Kenny Johnson said the shooter fired at least five shots. There were conflicting reports as to whether Audrey Johnson was a bystander or was shot in cold blood.

“It doesn’t seem that she was an intended target,” a police source said, noting that the same was true for Daniel Johnson.

A police source at the scene said the gunman fired at Audrey Johnson after she stepped into the middle of the fight.

Williams, who has a long rap sheet, was not shot, but suffered a cut to the head. Investigators were grilling him last night, a police source said.

Audrey Johnson’s husband starred for several NBA teams, including the Philadelphia 76ers, during a 13-year pro career.

Free, 55, born Lloyd Bernard Free, was known for his flamboyant style, shotmaking and soaring 360-degree dunks. He averaged 22 points a game and officially changed his name to “World B. Free” in 1980.

Before he made it big, Free was a street legend in Brooklyn, where he grew up in Brownsville and played at Canarsie High School. He works as basketball “ambassador” for the 76ers.

Audrey Johnson had worked on Wall Street before the recession hit, her family said. Her family was still trying to make sense of her tragic death last night.

“She was a giant,” said her cousin Radio Wahim, 54. “This is just a senseless act.”
