Tupac Shakur Hologram To Tour, Snoop Dogg and Dr Dre are reportedly planning to take Tupac Shakur’s hologram on tour with them after their storming set at Coachella festival over the weekend. The rappers stunned the audience at the festival in California when the lifelike hologram of the dead star appeared on stage with them.
Now, Snoop Dogg and Dr Dre want to hit the road with the hologram, which was created by US company Digital Domain. Wall Street Journal reports that the pals have been talking about a stadium tour featuring Eminem, 50 Cent and Wiz Khalifa, along with a smaller tour with only Dr Dre, Snoop Dogg and Tupac’s hologram.
Ed Ulbrich, Digital Domain’s chief creative officer, said: ‘To create a completely synthetic human being is the most complicated thing that can be done.
‘This is not found footage. This is not archival footage. This is an illusion. This is just the beginning. Dre has a massive vision for this.’
Meanwhile, Tupac’s mother Afeni Shakur has revealed she was ‘thrilled’ with the performance at Coachella, which saw the hologram perform Hail Mary and 2 of Amerikaz Most Wanted.
She described the show as ‘bittersweet’ after watching a live stream, it has been reported.
Dr Dre got in touch with Afeni to get her approval before the show and the rapper made a donation to The Tupac Amaru Shakur Foundation to show his thanks.
Tupac died in 1996 at the age of 25 after being shot four times.
