Blue Crush is a 2002 surfer film directed by John Stockwell and based on the article in outside magazine “Swell Life” by Susan Orlean. [1] With Kate Bosworth, Michelle Rodriguez, Sanoe Lake, Mika Boorem and it tells the story of three friends who have a passion to live the ultimate dream of surfing on the famous North Shore of Hawaii.

Anne Marie (Kate Bosworth), Eden (Michelle Rodriguez) and Lena (Sanoe Lake) are best friends. Anne Marie and her friends have raised her sister 14 years, Penny (Mika Boorem), ever since their mother took off to Las Vegas with a friend, who was not comfortable with the idea of uniting two young girls along. While Penny is at school, Anne Marie, Eden and Lena work as maids in a hotel of great resort, but more importantly, they are surfers. Anne Marie gets up every morning before dawn to train for her return to surfing. It was once considered a rising star in women’s surfing and participated in her youth, but a near-drowning incident temporarily halted her career and left with deep misgivings. His friends, especially Eden, have encouraged her to try again.

Anne Marie has been invited to participate in a surfing competition to come to the place famous North Shore surf, Pipeline. She hopes to attract the attention of sponsors and get herself and her friends from near-poverty, they live, as Pipe gets closer, Anne Marie fights to keep under control and Penny facing her own personal problems.

At work, Anne-Marie meets and draws the attention of Matt Tollman (Matthew Davis), a National Football League quarter to Hawaii for the Pro Bowl. Matt is there with several of her rowdy teammates and becomes instantly attracted to the Internet. Through a series of “chance” encounters, she agrees to teach him to surf, bringing Lena, Eden and Penny along for the ride. His acceptance of a non-local begins to cause friction between her and thousands of young men in her social circle surfing. Anne Marie faces more problems when she and Eden are competing for intense training session about the lack of Anne-Marie dedication to the competition pipeline due to the sudden appearance of Matt. It also heard comments from several vicious ladies staying at the hotel by Anne Marie subjected to the “Matt Tollman makeover” while attending a luau at the resort.

Anne Marie confronts Matt about their situation, and soon decided to step up the game as she finally committed herself to the Pipeline Masters. The day pipeline, Anne Marie clears during her first run, but the progress of the next heat after narrowly beating Kate Skarratt surfer. She is shaken, but Matt tells him a story about her first game as quarterback and helps restore her confidence falters. Determined, but still scared, Anne Marie returned to the water. Competition in the same heat is Keala Kennelly, one of the first professional female surfers, playing her. While Keala dares to surf the games early years of waves without wipeouts, Anne Marie still has a constituency inhibitions, visions of another near-drowning incident retained. Keala finishes her turn, she took Anne Marie under her wing and encourages him to take the best wave of the day, and Anne Marie manages to score perfectly. Even if it does not advance to the next round, she has regained her lost confidence, but more importantly, the authors’ opinion, one of which includes an offer to join the Billabong surf team women.
