Shane Battier

Shane Battier, In other trade, Memphis hung with the Indiana Pacers to pull another case, in the latter sending OJ Mayo. In return, the Grizzlies picked up a first round pick Josh McRoberts and before, give them another chance to win the project selection traded to Houston earlier in the day. McRoberts might be someone who gives a lot of value on the bench for the Grizzlies, as well, making almost a wash in the category of immediate value. For fans of Mayo, this may not seem like an even trade, but Memphis was ready to move forward without Mayo, which seems to have been the best option on the table.

In the final minutes of what looked like it was going to be a trade deadline without problems for the Houston Rockets, Daryl Morey decided to pull the trigger on two deals (so far) that the Rockets have landed their man coveted with great potential and assumed a back up point guard. Houston will be negotiating Shane Battier and his expiring contract back to the Memphis Grizzlies in exchange for # overall pick last season and Hasheem Thabeet a future round of choice.
Overall, all stakeholders with the exception of Shane Battier could use a change of scenery. Thabeet is not going to be our new starting center and he will not change the fate of the Rockets this season or next. He is about as raw as they come, but he is 7’3 “and turned the blocking skills.
The departure of Houston I will say this – Aaron Brooks just is not panning this season. His ego got the better of him and he made a fool of himself on a team that prides itself on professionalism. He did not do well with or without the blindfold and I think trading him was the right decision. Shane Battier will always be a rocket. He was a true professional and the most eloquent Rocket we had here in Houston in ages. His defense may have declined slightly, but it is still one of the top wing defenders in the league. Shane and intangible assets, we will miss this season in Houston.

Hasheem Thabeet

Hasheem Thabeet, The Memphis Grizzlies as buyers trade deadline? Rockets GM Daryl Morey for negotiating Hasheem Thabeet draft bust? You’re all crazy or something to sell. The next thing you’ll tell me that someone was willing to take Baron Davis off the Clippers … What? Okay, I’m not sure I understand anything anymore. A flurry of activity at the NBA trade deadline brings back Shane Battier in Memphis-A at least briefly. The Grizzlies acquired Battier, an impending free agent from the Houston Rockets for Hasheem Thabeet and a future first-round choice.

Several teams from the West improved, as the above Thunder and the Blazers, who added Gerald Wallace. But GM several teams “have not done their franchises favors. Houston traded Aaron Brooks and Shane Battier and obtained Hasheem Thabeet and Goran Dragic in return. Although the Rockets do not have much of a competitor or a rival division anyway, with the trades today, they are no more than a poke in the West.
As regards the movements of the player, the Spurs will be watching closely to see that players are willing to repurchase their teams. Joel Przybilla and Troy Murphy are among the names mentioned, and if the Spurs believe that a player can help them, they’ll probably look at some options. They may even welcome the players outside the waiver wire and call up D-League players, but I doubt anyone of much significance that will play a major role for the Spurs will be on silver and black in a near future. PA sources said that the rockets sent point guard Aaron Brooks in Phoenix and forward Shane Battier in Memphis in separate agreements Thursday that guard Goran Dragic to center Hasheem Thabeet and Houston, according to a person familiar with the specific trades. The Rockets also get first-round pick two teams and rookie guard vessel Ish Smith to the Grizzlies.

Aaron Brooks

Aaron Brooks, By acquiring Flynn, the Rockets would send Aaron Brooks packing disorder. Flynn, despite playing minutes per game this season, had a solid rookie season where he averaged 13 points and five assists for the Wolves. On the reverse, Brooks is ideal for the Timberwolves, and he would probably start his first game in the Land of 10,000 Lakes. He is averaging 11.6 points per game in minutes per game for the Rockets this season, but shot a terrible 35 percent on the field. Flynn morale would be great for the Rockets; his character is much larger than that of Brooks. In turn, Brooks would be happy despite playing for a team worse because of his playing time increases.

(AP) – The Rockets point guard Aaron Brooks sent to Phoenix and forward Shane Battier in Memphis in separate agreements Thursday that guard Goran Dragic to center Hasheem Thabeet and Houston, according to a person familiar with the specific trades. The Rockets also get first-round pick two teams and rookie guard vessel Ish Smith to the Grizzlies. The person spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the Rockets have not officially announced the trades. Houston is -31, 11th in the Western Conference. The General Manager Daryl Morey said in recent weeks that virtually every player on the list was at stake for the main trades of the deadline on Thursday. Battier and Brooks have contracts expiring after this season, the products coveted for teams looking to create salary cap space. But in acquiring 7-foot Thabeet-3 and Dragic, the Rockets split with two of the most popular players of the team among fans. Brooks was a first-round pick by the Rockets in 2007 and has excelled in the playoffs of 2008-09. The 6-low average of .8 points and 3.4 assists, and Houston has failed a second round upset of the Lakers in Los Angeles. He was honored as most improved player in the NBA in -10, but a sprained ankle has limited his production earlier this season and he found himself in a reserve, backup Kyle Lowry.

Courtney Lee

Courtney Lee, Two popular former Orlando Magic players are about to participate in an exchange of four teams, ESPN.com ‘s Chad Ford is reporting.

Courtney Lee would go from New Jersey Nets at Houston Rockets. Trevor Ariza would the Rockets to the Hornets in New Orleans.

The Hornets sent Darren Collison and James Posey to the Indiana Pacers. And the Pacers Troy Murphy sent the Nets.

The Rockets would be Lee’s third team in his short career in the NBA, and the agreement would have a clear positive and clear negative for him.

First, the positives: It would be out of New Jersey, which was 12-70 last season and should be horrible, once again, even with Avery Johnson as head coach. I also think that Lee feels energized to join the Houston Rockets went 42-40 last season and could sneak in pursuit of the Western Conference playoffs this season.

Now the negative: Lee will join a team that already has a good escort. The Rockets acquired Kevin Martin of the Sacramento Kings last season, and Martin is the clear starter. In fact, as Ford said, perhaps the best aspect of this agreement for the Rockets is that they will get rid of long-term contract Ariza.

How does this affect the magic?

My friend Ben P. Rock OrlandoPinstripedPost.com supports the efforts of the Magic to acquire Chris Paul of New Orleans “could soon be a great success” because the Hornets split with Collison, a point guard of the future potential.

I disagree because that is the Magic had a reasonable expectation of Paul in the first place. I do not think any team, much less the Magic had the opportunity to get Paul.

I have argued for some time that the Hornets would be crazy to trade away their franchise player, while he has two seasons left on his contract. In short, Paul simply does not have any leverage to force a deal because of their contractual situation and because he is not the kind of person who would become a team cancer.

All that said, you can bet that Paul is heated speculation again if the Hornets from 2010 to 1911 to start his illness.
