George McGovern In Hospital, Former South Dakota senator and Democratic presidential candidate George McGovern was released from a Florida hospital Thursday after undergoing tests, a hospital spokeswoman said.

Patty McAnnally, nursing supervisor at Flagler Hospital in St. Augustine, Fla., said the 89-year-old McGovern was released in the afternoon.

The 1972 Democratic presidential candidate was hospitalized in St. Augustine, Fla., Tuesday after attending the McGovern Day fundraiser for the state Democratic Party in Sioux Falls.

In an email to the Argus Leader, Susan McGovern said her father was fatigued from the trip and suffered a couple of fainting spells.

McGovern splits his time between Florida and South Dakota.
