Florence The Machine Ceremonials, When Florence + the Machine burst onto the scene in 2009 with their debut album, ‘Lungs’, they were nothing if not a breath of fresh air. The British band fronted by the fiery singer, Florence Welch, caught the ears of Americans who tastes spanned the entire musical gamut, earning them their first appearance at 2010’s Coachella music festival and opening the door to a slew of opportunities.

The fairytale sounds of Florence + the Machine’s universally appealing music garnered the attention of everyone from vampire obsessed tweens, thanks to a song in the third Twilight blockbuster, Eclipse, to legendary DJ Fatboy Slim who employed Welch’s mesmerizing vocals on his collaboration album with David Byrne, ‘Here Lies Love’.

Not surprisingly, Florence + the Machine’s recent sophomore release Ceremonials has made an equally powerful impact, guaranteeing that these Brits will give one of this year’s hottest performances when they return to the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival in April.

Since the beginning, Welch’s ethereal voice has been Florence + the Machine’s unmistakable trademark. The combination of her haunting vocals and the band’s uncanny ability to capture an emotion between the delicate strings of harp or the fervid keys of a piano has made Florence + the Machine a successful act worldwide.

Ask any fan and they will tell you that the whimsical music captivates listeners with a connection that goes beyond catchy melodies and a beautiful voice, instead reaching audiences on a deeper level through the natural emotions that fuel Florence + the Machine’s impassioned songs.

Front-woman Florence has stated that her music, revolving around the themes of love, death, darkness, and life, is often crafted during moments of obscurity, brought on by slight drunkenness and crippling hangovers, a time when the singer feels her emotions the most. In fact, perhaps Ceremonials most popular song to date, “Shake it Out”, is about trying to ditch a hazy head in the recording studio after a night of partying. It goes without saying that although Florence + the Machine’s songs are derived from experiences in everyday life, they are much more than that once finished. Like herself, every component of Welch’s project is dramatic, extravagant, and oozing with tireless emotion.
