Gi Joe Retaliation

Gi Joe Retaliation, Ninjas, explosions, machine guns and muscles blast their way through the new trailer for “G.I. Joe: Retaliation,” a sequel we might have expected.

Cullman, Alabama native Channing Tatum returns as Duke, but the trailer gets to the point fairly quickly: This ain’t the same Joe. Perhaps calling for its own re-do after that stinker from a few years back, this time we get Dwayne “Who Are We Kidding, We’re Calling Him ‘The Rock'” Johnson leading the way after the special butt-kicking unit gets mostly taken out by that darn Cobra outfit.

But that doesn’t mean less Snake Eyes, because, you know, everybody likes that guy. And more of that guy means more ninja sword fights scaling the sides of gigantic mountains. Plus, things blow up real good.

Watch out for a fun cameo (in the trailer) from Bruce Willis, channeling his inner action star again.

And it’s all set to a dub step remix of The White Stripes’ “Seven Nation Army!”

At least now we know “G.I. Joe” doesn’t look like it’s “messing around” this time (I put quotes on messing around because I try not to convince myself this isn’t just a kind of better version than the first).

And, of course, knowing is half the battle. But you knew that.
