Augusta National Golf Club, Like every other journalist in the Augusta National Golf Club for the Masters Golf Tournament this weekend, a sports columnist Tara Sullivan of The Record of Bergen (New Jersey) was just trying to do their work – and get the details Masters history courses so they could make their deadline. In particular, Sullivan was heading to the locker room to interview the third round leader Rory McIlroy when security guards stopped him.

Why Sullivan stopped, but not the rest of the group of journalists? Well, because she is a woman, of course. Huh? That’s right. May sound medieval to us, but the Augusta National Golf Club has no female member on a normal day, so old school “no girls allowed” the application is, well, business daily.

Sullivan Twitter tonight about what is now considered a misunderstanding:

It’s bad enough there are women members of Augusta. But I’m not allowed to join the writers in an interview wardrobe is wrong.

She went on to Tweet Steve Ethun Masters Media Committee called it a “complete misunderstanding about the safety of tournament week.” In other words, the security guards were so well trained on the tradition of the club free woman did not even stop to consider exceptions and practices of major sporting events. Screams.

Luckily for Sullivan, Bill Plaschke, a columnist for the Los Angeles Times, gave excerpts from the interview immediately, and John Romano of the St. Petersburg Times by email the full transcript. Ugh! This undoubtedly helped Sullivan get a move on her term. Very professional, comrades!

Who knows what caused the “misunderstanding” or why it was not clear in minutes. Seems pretty cut and dry that all journalists should have access to the players. Women journalists have had access to the locker Masters since 1985. Hello, Augusta National Golf Club, 2011. Get It Together.
