Alec Baldwin MayorAlec Baldwin Mayor, Alec Baldwin has revealed he has abandoned his political ambitions – just weeks after his meltdown on a passenger jet. The 30 Rock star, who has flirted with running for New York Mayor, said he is no longer interested in taking office saying he has lost his appetite for the role.
He described candidates who are still in the political arena as ‘h***y for their own ascension.’ Baldwin’s comments came as he interviewed British director Stephen Daldry for WYNC public radio.
He said: ‘The people that are running for mayor. I don’t see myself in that crowd.
‘They are like a guy on a date that you can tell he just can’t wait to get his hand up your blouse before even the lights go out in the theatre.
‘They’re all so h***y for it, h***y for their own ascension.’

Baldwin is also keen to keep his role on hit U.S. sitcom 30 Rock, because he no longer believes it would be worth quitting his career to attempt to make a change in society.
He adds, ‘Give this up (the show) for what? I give up money and fame and position and success; I give up this wonderful life I have now in exchange for the chance to “really change things”? ‘Yeah, I’m not quite sure you can anymore. I’ve got a good job. Am I doing To Kill a Mockingbird? No. I’m doing a sitcom. But we have fun, and it’s a family.’

Baldwin’s outspoken comments comes soon after he was involved in an embarrassing spat with flight crew on an American Airlines flight from Los Angeles.
The 53-year-old was ordered off a flight after refusing to shut down his smart phone and stop playing a scrabble game.
Baldwin later apologised to other passengers but took a shot at American Airlines in a sketch for the comedy show Saturday Night Live.
He appeared on ‘Weekend Update’ with Seth Meyers posing as the ‘airline pilot’ of the flight.
In character, Baldwin issued an ‘apology’ and referred to himself as an ‘American treasure.’ ‘I am ashamed at the way he was treated. I mean, what harm would it do to let him keep playing his game…not just any game mind you but a word game for smart people,’ he said in character.
In preparation for his bid to take over from Mayor Mike Bloomberg the actor looked to establish a permanent residence in Manhattan.
His current home is in Long Island but he has owned a home in the city for over 20 years.
