Krispy Kreme Challenge

February 5, 2011 by

Krispy Kreme Challenge, (AP) – On your marks, get set, stuff yourself. About 7,500 people are expected to attend Saturday annual Krispy Kreme Challenge in Raleigh. The rules are simple and stomach-churning: a period of two miles, eat a dozen Krispy Kreme donuts, then run back on the same two miles.

That’s four mile run to burn about 2,400 calories.

It’s for a good cause, though. Students from North Carolina State University operate the race, and it raises money for the Hospital of North Carolina children. Last year, the event attracted more than $ 55,000.

The race began in 2004 with a wager between friends. Only a handful of runners took part in the beginning but it has grown steadily since then.
