WWF Earth Hour 2013

March 23, 2013 by

WWF Earth Hour 2013, Daisy Lowe provides a timely reminder to us all to support WWF’s Earth Hour in this striking portrait by Rankin.

In a bid to shift our focus to the natural world (by drawing the natural world on the eye – clever, hey?), WWF wants us all to turn off our lights for one hour tomorrow, Saturday 23 March, at 8.30pm, as a gesture to show we care about the future of the planet.

You’ll be in good company if you join in: global landmarks switching off include Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament, Buckingham Palace, the Empire State building, the Eiffel Tower and the Great Wall of China.

‘If we enjoy our planet then I believe we need to take care of it,’ says Daisy on getting involved. ‘I hope that people across the UK and the world will take a moment this Earth Hour to appreciate both the beauty and the fragility of the natural world that we rely on so much.’

What to do while you’re sitting in darkness? Romantic candlelit dinners notwithstanding, put yourself on the Earth Hour map to gain exclusive access to an audiobook of Rudyard Kipling’s Just So stories, read by WWF ambassadors Kevin McCloud, Miranda Richardson and Alistair McGowan.
