Where S The Tardis, Alter ego Dr. could have jumped straight in the face of the Tardis autograph scream. But for Doctor Who actor David Tennant there was no escape, as he left Novello Theatre in London last night.
The 37-year-old has recently been plagued by back problems, dutifully braved the cold and removed her gloves to sign autographs and pose for pictures with excited fans.
At least 100 of them gathered to wait after joining the cast of Hamlet to perform for the VIP guests to an evening of fundraising for the education department of the Royal Shakespeare Company.
Finally, a baseball cap Tennant managed to get out of hysteria, jumping on the back of a waiting car.
Following the receptionTennant over-the-top seemed in need of a stiff drink; join One Foot in the Grave actor Richard Wilson at the Ivy Club.
Fortunately for Scottish actor Tennant will soon be able to deliver the responsibilities of keeping Doctor Who fans happy with his successor on the popular BBC drama – 26-year-old Matt Smith.
Tennant has admitted he is jealous of his young replacement, but warned that the increased level of public scrutiny that follows will change the life of Smith.
“All that is about to unfold and how her life will change in many ways … It’s exciting, “said Tennant.
