Welcoming Guest Pine Huangshan, Welcoming Guest Pine: Located on the east side of the Jade Screen Peak and on the Wenshu Cave, it stands about ten meters high. The diameter of its trunk is 64 centimeters, and the diameter of its root is 75 meters. The middle part of its trunk has two main lateral shoots, which are 7.6 meters long, and stretch forwards. It looks like a hospitable host who flings her arms out to welcome the arrival of her guests warmly. This pine is the representative of Mt. Huangshan’s pines. It’s China’s treasure.

Huangshan, is a mountain range in southern Anhui province in eastern China. The range is composed of material that was uplifted from an ancient sea during the Mesozoic era, 100 million years ago. The mountains themselves were carved by glaciers during the Quaternary. Vegetation on the range is thickest below 1,100 meters (3,600 ft), with trees growing up to the treeline at 1,800 meters (5,900 ft).
