Uk Phone Hacking Trial, Rebekah Brooks, former chief executive of News International, and Rupert Murdoch attend the Cheltenham Horse Racing Festival on March 18, 2010

The trial of former News International chief executive Rebekah Brooks and seven other people connected to alleged phone hacking is set to start in a British court on Monday.

It’s the first time the group – which includes David Cameron’s ex-director of communications Andy Coulson and Brooks’ racehorse-trainer husband Charlie – will appear before a jury in the case, the Guardian reports. With at least 100 witnesses due to give evidence, the proceedings are scheduled to last until Easter next year. All eight defendants have pleaded not guilty to the charges against them.
