Tony Stewart Danica Patrick, Stewart-Haas Racing drivers have decades of experience, so they know that one good weekend doesn’t translate into a turnaround.
But they had to start somewhere, and coming off a Coca-Cola 600 race where Ryan Newman finished sixth, Tony Stewart finished seventh and Danica Patrick was running on the lead lap when she wrecked, the organization hops it has taken the first steps toward getting back on track.
The trio tested Wednesday at Pocono Raceway and Stewart said he could tell the impact of those results at Charlotte.
“It’s a sign of progress,” said Stewart, the co-owner of the team. “You look in our three garage stalls, guys are smiling a lot more today.
“That was a big weekend for us last weekend. It didn’t put anything on the map. We didn’t finish in the top three. But Ryan ran well all night. We learned something in the last 200 miles that got our car better and Danica was solid until her wreck.”
