Gone Baby Gone

Gone Baby Gone, Christmas is in the rearview mirror, it’s time to catch up on the latest DVDs, care of our good friends at Scarecrow Video. Recent weeks have brought a bunch of great summer (and early fall) of press, good enough salt to do the sentence-A-Team to the why, now Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps. I do not care for the directorial debut of Ben Affleck Gone Baby Gone, but this does not mean that the city is not worth a rental. Same goes for the other guys, I’m down to Mark Wahlberg and Will Ferrell as the cops is not boyfriend.

There are several new movies for children. Despicable I have received decent reviews, as Emma Thompson wrote and-return with Nanny McPhee. Not the case for the black legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga’Hoole. And when it comes to Step Up 3D … oh, why the hell not? The Scarlet Letter-Easy A lite is apparently for teenagers, but with a cast including Patricia Clarkson, Malcolm McDowell, and Stanley Tucci, it also works for adults. And not one of all ages should see Devil, the trapped in the thriller-lift “of the mind of M. Night Shyamalan.”

There are three foreign films new DVD that was played earlier this year SIFF: Fatih Akin restaurant multi-culti popular appeal, Soul Kitchen, fantasy final spot by Jean-Pierre Jeunet, Micmac, and Peruvian Altiplano plague drama. And catch a bomb through the five discs Rita Hayworth glam collection.

Many good documentaries now too. Longtime couple of lesbians and Thea Edie waits for the right to marry in a Very Long Engagement. Ghost Bird, a doc on the woodpecker ivory-off-so, perhaps-not-extinct billed played Forum Northwest Film earlier this year. Banksy exit art world thanks to the gift shop, natural gas drilling Gasland nightmare, and Joan Rivers Self-doc everything seemed to work at Sundance this year, while Hitchcock Doppelganger Double Take and Mugabe and the African White both ran at SIFF. Meanwhile, I saw entire history of my sexual failures a few years ago, and he is awkwardly, painfully good.

In the TV on DVD, Futurama Volume 5 is out, as is the last episode of the Trailer Park Boys, Say Goodnight to the Bad Guys. And of course there is the latest Family Guy Star Wars special, it’s a trap! In the grab bag, Vampire Circus is exactly what looks is like: a group of vampires change shape himself as a circus troupe to prey on children. If this does not sound good to you, may I suggest the Horde? “To avenge the murder of one of their own by a group of ruthless gangsters, four corrupt cops go on a rampage against the people responsible. A horde of zombie’s bloodthirsty cannibal that complicates things.”
