Rancic Surrogate, Bill and Giuliana Rancic have made no secret of their desire for a second child — in fact, much of the seventh season of their reality series, “Giuliana & Bill,” has been spent discussing that desire — but unfortunately, the couple’s surrogate has suffered a miscarriage while carrying baby No. 2.

The Rancics tell People that their surrogate, Delphine, suffered a miscarriage at approximately nine weeks. “Unfortunately our surrogate Delphine who we love very much had a miscarriage. It’s something that we didn’t see coming. We were devastated,” Bill tells the magazine.

The couple was waiting until the second trimester to share the news, since they understand deeply the risks of miscarriage. “We experienced a miscarriage years ago when we were trying with Giuliana, so we had been keeping the pregnancy news tight to the vest,” Bill says.

But Bill and Giuliana say they’re not giving up yet. “”We’re fighters. Hopefully we’re going to have good news and Delphine will be on board one more time. We’ve had to battle it out and that’s something that we’re going to continue to do,” Bill says.

Delphine gave birth to the couple’s first child, Duke, in August 2012.
