MBTA, (AP) – Authorities are urging Massachusetts residents to stay off the roads as a winter storm grinds the state, but that did not stop some people from heading to work.
Michelle was wearing scrubs medical Koolian as she waited in Andover on Wednesday morning for a train to take him to his job as a medical assistant at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston.
The 23-year Koolian said she had to get it to work because patients rely on her.
Other commuters bundled up for cold in heavy parkas, snow pants and boots, wearing work clothes in garment bags.
The MBTA said there are some delays but no major problems on commuter rail and subway and passenger volume is light.
State police report numerous spinouts and crashes at least two tractor-trailers that resulted in minor injuries.

Path Train, Even the snow was stopped falling but airports, roads and railway lines continue to operate at an impasse. During one of the most popular travel periods of the year, the airport saw nearly 7,000 cancellations since Sunday. Newark Airport reopened today for the first time since Sunday night, leaving the passengers to sleep on baggage carousels and concrete floors. Although most highways and major roads were cleared, many secondary roads are narrow and treacherous with black ice hidden. Some suburban areas in New Jersey has seen up to two and a half feet of snow, and while Mayor Mike Bloomberg’s press conference participant, today he said the worst snowstorm in New fifth York City History.
Most people with real jobs trying to return to work today after this weekend, AOS disastrous storm, but if you rely on public transport which have proved extremely difficult. LIRR, LIRR trains are delayed travelers in New York, with delays on all lines.
A low-speed derailment at 10:30 pm today, inside Penn Station, has caused headaches.
About 300 passengers were asked to board the train and wait at the station. No casualties were reported
Train LIRR (Long Island Railroad) are the oldest trains in the country. CBS New York suggests that the aging infrastructure may delay the return to service.
NJ Transit is advising passengers that the wait between trains can be as much as 30 minutes.
There is no estimate for full restoration service is available at this time.
Amtrak and Metro-North Railroad have coordinated a railway bridge between the Grand Central Terminal in New York and the Croton Harmon station, with alternative bus transportation is also available between Grand Central and Penn Station in New York.
